DreamWorks CEO "fearful" of Hollywood strike
Tue Sep 18, 2007 8:40pm EDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Adding to Hollywood strike jitters, DreamWorks Animation SKG chief executive Jeffrey Katzenberg said on Tuesday he was "fearful" the gap between writers and studios in contract talks could spark labor strife.

"I don't think I've ever seen a wider gap in the bid and the ask on where we are today. A lot of it is emotional and rhetorical and a lot of it is substantive," he said at the Merrill Lynch Media and Entertainment Conference.

Hollywood's writers and producers are engaged in negotiations for a new three-year labor pact covering 12,000 members of the Writers Guild of America, whose agreement expires on October 31.

Face-to-face bargaining between the union and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers is set to resume on Wednesday after a nine-week break in talks.
