NUHW Narrowly Wins Representation Election Against SEIU At A California Children’s Hospital

The National Union of Health Care Workers won a union representation election at Children's Hospital in Oakland by a vote of 163-159. Some workers there began an effort to switch representation from SEIU to NUHW in January of 2009. The struggle between the two unions has played out for more than 900 days as SEIU resisted efforts by NUHW supporters to switch unions. The NLRB must still rule on some challenged ballots before the election results are certified.
