AFL-CIO Will Continue To Press Working Family Legislative Agenda

By Doug Cunningham

The AFL-CIO will continue to aggressively pursue a working family agenda as the new Republican majority takes power in the U.S. House. AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka says creating jobs and a solid economic recovery are top priorities.

: “Working Americans will not rest until good jobs are created and the people responsible for destroying the jobs are held accountable. The AFL-CIO will continue to mobilize every day to create jobs and demand that Republicans and Democrats step up to the plate.”

Trumka says voters want both political parties to work together, but that doesn’t mean compromises that continue to favor the corporate and wealthy elite.

: “People think that Washington is broken and leadership on both sides of the aisle need to step up and work together. But that doesn’t mean compromising for the sake of it or caving in to what’s best for corporations and the wealthy. It means working together to create jobs and help working families.”
