The Screen Actors Guild has warned its members to stay away from The Hobbit.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, numerous international unions, including SAG and AFTRA, have sent out alerts advising members to quit working on the highly-anticipated prequel to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy as the film does not meet union pay agreements.

The alert reads: "The Alliance agreement for large-budget international studio films... provides for residuals that are equivalent to those under the SAG agreement. The residuals proposed by the producers of The Hobbit are less in every respect."

In addition, the unions claim that the film’s producers have refused to sign union contracts.
