Workers at 17 Kroger supermarkets in Michigan have rejected the company’s latest contract offer and have authorized strike action. Fourteen of the stores are in the Flint region of Michigan. Specific proposals in the final contract offer from Kroger that workers disapprove of most include wage and benefit proposals. One item would freeze the pay of courtesy clerks for three years and would also pay less than $8 per hour to more than 650 workers.
