Caribbean Refinery Closes, Idling A Thousand Workers

The third largest refinery in the Caribbean will be shuttered indefinitely. Valero Energy Corporation said it made the decision due to the economic situation and the 1,000 contract workers have been laid off. The plant is the largest employer on the island of Aruba and the plant workers represent 3.9 percent of its’ workforce.
