WBNG Member also Killed in DC Metro Tragedy

http://www.wbng.org/wbngnews09/2009-news/09-0624-metrocrash.shtm

Mary "Mandy" Doolittle, a Guild member with the American Nurses Association bargaining unit, was killed June 22 in the crash in Washington, D.C., involving two Metro trains on the Red Line.
Mandy worked with ANA in its International Division. She started out as an administrative assistant in March 1998 and worked most recently as a Senior Program Specialist.

Another ANA-unit member was injured in the crash. Adaline Cooper, from ANA's Marketing Department, was in the second car of the train that was hit from behind. She sustained a number of contusions and spent one night in a hospital.

WBNG Treasurer Sheila Lindsay, an ANA-unit member, got word of the fatality and injury June 23 while participating as a delegate to the Communications Workers of America's national convention in Washington. In fact, the news came just a few minutes before CWA's own "In Memoriam" service mourning the deaths of CWA leaders over the previous year.

"Sheila rose to the floor and made the last intervention of the day," said WBNG President Mark Pattison, who was also at the CWA gathering. "She asked for a moment of silence for both Mandy and Adaline."

Pattison asked that WBNG brothers and sisters keep Mandy Doolittle, her family, loved ones, colleagues, and friends in their thoughts and prayers.
