Gallup said Friday it had cut 26 employees from its Omaha workforce of about 900.

Another 12 employees lost their jobs at other Gallup offices around the country.

The company blamed the cuts on the recession, saying it had curbed revenue growth.

Call centers in Lincoln and Bellevue escaped what the company described as a reduction in workforce. The cuts occurred Monday.

Gallup has an overall workforce of about 2,000 employees, 1,400 of whom are in Nebraska.

Company spokesman Kelly Slater said a majority of the employees who lost their jobs worked at the riverfront corporate headquarters. The others were at the two call centers in Omaha.
