Local police officers join union

Albany – The 12 members of the Town of Cairo Police Department have voted to join the United Public Service Employees Union as their bargaining agent.

The New York State Public Employment Relations Board announced the results of a vote Friday, in which the officers chose United Public Service over the New York State Law Enforcement Officers Union, District Council 82, AFL-CIO.

The mail ballot vote was tallied and announced on Friday.

The town police chief and all other town employees are excluded from this union representation.
