8 March 2009

MINNEAPOLIS - Members of Communications Workers of America Locals 7200 and 7250 are mobilizing as part of a nationwide campaign to win new contracts with AT&T.

The AT&T contract with workers in its wireless operations expired Feb. 7. The AT&T contract with workers in its traditional long-distance operations will expire April 4.

Local 7250 members staged an informational picket Feb. 14 at an AT&T wireless store in Roseville.

“We will be doing some more store actions,” reported Shari Wojtowicz, Local 7250 president.

“This contract for the mobility workers isn’t about wages,” she said. “It’s about respect on the job and better working conditions.”

Wojtowicz said CWA wants to work with AT&T to design jobs that provide career paths at AT&T, not just jobs.
