Economic Report: U.S. Mass Layoffs Fifty Percent Higher Than A Year Ago

Economic Report:

January saw mass layoffs expand by 50 percent in comparison to the same time last year. The Bureau of Labor Statistics showed Ohio as one of the worst hit states with a jump of 180 percent in mass layoffs in comparison to January 2008. General Motors was the biggest culprit when it came to job cuts in the Buckeye state. Unemployment claims across the nation where up by 60 percent over last year.
