/UFCW Local 1230 Adjustment Committee was relocated to 1011 Elgin St., Cobourg from the closed Kraft plant on William Street, states United Food and Commercial Workers Union local president John Wood in a media release.

Mr. Wood was responding to questions posed by this newspaper concerning the work of the committee and about how many former Kraft employees have found new jobs since the plant closed in October of this year. More than 300 people were employed at the plant when Kraft announced its closure in November 2007.

"While the adjustment committee does not directly track numbers of people re-employed, we are well aware of numerous individuals who have successfully re-entered the job market since their employment ended with Kraft Canada," Mr. Wood writes. "Also, former employees have decided to take advantage of government programs such as Second Career to return to school for retraining or upgrading."

Kraft Canada spokesperson Lynne Galia has said in past interviews the company doesn't have access to information about what former employees are doing and this week she reiterated there is no news about any sale of the Cobourg Kraft facility where the adjustment committee was located until December.
