Philly Comcast Center Workers Seek $200 Million Class-Action Lawsuit

http://www.laborradio.org/node/9997

Workers at Philadelphia’s newest skyscraper are seeking a class action lawsuit against their employer. Jesse Russell reports:

Black cafeteria workers at the Comcast Center skyscraper in Philadelphia are seeking a class action $200 million lawsuit against the company that handles food services for the building. The workers claim they have been called racial names and that they have been discriminated against when it came to job placement. Seven of the 11 workers filing the suit allege they were fired so the company could hire more white workers. The cafeteria is managed by the world’s largest catering company, London-based Compass Group. Comcast has not been named in the lawsuit and said in a statement that a letter had been sent to Compass that “articulated” Comcast’s “zero tolerance policy regarding any racial discrimination or insensitive behavior toward employees.”
