Ohio Employment Report: Employee Confidence Index Declines...
More Workers Likely to Look for New Jobs in the Next 12 Months

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ohio Employee Confidence
Index decreased five points to 42.1 in July, according to the latest
Spherion(R) Employment Report. The monthly survey conducted by Harris
Interactive(R) on behalf of Spherion Corporation, indicates that while more
workers believe there are fewer jobs available, more workers plan to look
for new jobs in the next 12 months.

Results from the Ohio Employment Report:

-- Two-fifths (41 percent) of workers are likely to look for a new job in
the next 12 months, an increase of 15 percentage points from the
previous month.

-- In July, the percentage of workers who believe there are fewer jobs
available inched up. Specifically, 67 percent of workers believe there
are fewer jobs available versus 62 percent in June.

-- Fifty-eight percent of workers are confident in the future of their
current employer compared to 67 percent in June.

-- Seventy-one percent of workers believe it is unlikely that they will
lose their jobs, a six percentage point decrease from the previous
month.

"Although the Index declined in July, certain fluctuations in
confidence are to be expected in an ever-changing economy and job market,"
said Robert Schulte, Spherion franchise owner in Ohio. "With a local
economy that is so heavily influenced by the manufacturing and automobile
industries, the rising cost of fuel is appearing to hit home. As workers
across the country react to high energy costs, it is somewhat surprising to
see that Ohio workers are more likely to make a job transition in the next
12 months. With almost half of Ohio workers considering a job change,
employers will benefit from reevaluating their current recruitment and
retention strategies in order to accommodate this mobile workforce and
prevent a loss of talent."
