AFL-CIO Flyer Features Smiling Dick Cheney. No, Really.

Ana Marie Cox — man, enough times go by, and even I begin to forget grudges; guess my Irish Alzheimer's is cured! — has fun with a flyer being sent out by the AFL-CIO in several Midwestern swing states, that attempts to dispel "myths" about Barack Obama.

On the flag pin, I know better than to expect inconvenient facts in a piece of union direct mail, but they could acknowledge that the entire controversy started when Obama said he no longer wore flag pins because they had become, "a substitute for true patriotism."

On the "Is he a Christian" question, I offer my standard helpful defense: "Obama is not a Muslim. As we all know, he spent twenty years as a member of a crazy Christian church where the pastors and visiting clergy denounce America."

On the question of whether he was sworn in on a Bible, I'm just surprised that the AFL-CIO decided to feature a smiling Dick Cheney in one of their mailers.

on the cheney thing? We all know that the AFL-CIO hates this "administration" with a white hot passion. Sounds like crapola to me.
