It was supposed to be his day off, but with a union convention in town and the close Indiana primary less than two weeks away, White House hopeful Barack Obama thanked 200 members of the United Food and Commercial Workers for their help on his campaign Thursday.

"No matter where has taken me, you've been right by my side," Obama told the members in their yellow "UFCW for Obama" T-Shirts. "I know that because I see those yellow T-shirts at every town hall meeting."

He'd like to see them in Indiana in the next few weeks. Obama and Hillary Clinton both campaign there today.

Obama promised a more union-friendly administration if he is elected, saying, "This election is our chance to finally have a president who doesn't choke saying the word 'union.' . . . It's not just that this administration hasn't been fighting for you -- they've actually tried to stop you from fighting for yourselves. This is the most anti-labor administration in our memory. They don't believe in unions. They don't believe in organizing. They've packed the Labor Relations board with their corporate buddies. But we are here to say it's not the Department of Management, it's the Department of Labor, and we're here to take it back."
