1 Million Dead Iranians
Twelve hours. One circuit of the sun from horizon to horizon, one course of the moon from dusk to dawn. What was once a natural measurement for the daily round of human life is now a doom-laden interval between the voicing of an autocrat's brutal whim and the infliction of mass annihilation halfway around the world.

Twelve hours is the maximum time necessary for American bombers to gear up and launch an unprovoked sneak attack -- a Pearl Harbor in reverse -- against Iran, The Washington Post reports. The plan for this "global strike," which includes a very viable "nuclear option," was approved months ago and is now in operation. The planes are already on continuous alert, making "nuclear delivery" practice runs along the Iranian border, The New Yorker reports, and waiting only for the signal from President George W. Bush to drop their payloads of conventional and nuclear weapons on some 400 targets throughout the condemned land.

And when this attack comes -- either as a stand-alone "knock-out blow" or as the precursor to a full-scale, regime-changing invasion, like the earlier aggression in Iraq -- there will be no warning, no declaration of war, no congressional hearings, no public debate. The already-issued orders governing the operation put the decision solely in the hands of the president. He picks up the phone, he says, "Go," and in 12 hours' time, up to 1 million Iranians will be dead.

This potential death toll is not pacifist hyperbole; it comes from a National Academy of Sciences study sponsored by the Pentagon itself, as The Progressive reports. The NAS study calculated the kill rate from "bunker-busting" tactical nukes used to take out underground facilities -- such as those housing much of Iran's nuclear power program. Another simulation using Pentagon software was even more specific, measuring the aftermath from a "limited" nuclear attack on the main Iranian underground site in Esfahan. The result? Three million people killed by radiation in just two weeks. Bush now has about 50 nuclear "earth-penetrating weapons" at his disposal.

3. Which could just be the reason Bush visited them personally
don'cha think?

Who on earth believes that Cheney gives one half a turd for a million muslims?
He and the rest of the team of deluded freaking rapturists and Neocons are on a mission.

Everything is going to be OK because God speaks through Bush when Cheney pulls the string that moves the puppets lips.

In the present apocalypse wine turns to oil, not blood, in the Holy Grail.

SHOCK AND AWE which increased radiation levels in England.

2. K&R People need to know what a dangerous situation we are in.

I loathe to think that * would actually drop nuclear weapons at a country but he is so out of his mind that protective measures need to be taken against him. He really scares me.

Is there anyway a president can be stopped if he has his finger on the button. There must be some sort of protective measure set up in case the president looses his mind.

18. Don't want to go all "illuminati" on you but
I honestly thinks its possible that there is some global plan to "Cull the herd" and of course only the elite and enough of their future slaves will be allowed in the underground bunkers to become morlocks.

5. Actually, I think its less
SLBMs can be launched and hit Iranian targets in about 20 minutes.

Given his treatment of the military, I'm beginning to wonder if they would carry out these orders.

7. And with one word from Bush, America would end
Oh, we'd still exist as a nation. There would still be a United States of America. But all that the world has admired and aspired to that is America would die, just as surely as if a thug had driven a knife into each of our 300 million hearts.

The chest-thumping cowardice of Tojo at Pearl Harbor; or, with more meaning to a Texan, of Matamoros at the Alamo.

We would know the shame that the German people now bear for the Holocaust. We would know the shame that the Japanese people have borne for the Rape of Nanking.

Only we would have no excuse whatsoever.

16. Oh, I'm sorry, I'm SO sorry!
Forgive me, please, in the name of the millions slaughtered by the AmeriKKKan Death Machine, for having used the incorrect verb tense.

(Actually, I had been taught it was the correct verb tense for evocative writing. Mass murder uses the present indicative.)

Oh, the sufferings of the lost millions! Their blood cries out for grammar!

Meanwhile, George Bush is planning to take this nation on its final decent into hell. I intend to oppose it, bad grammar and all.

15. Our lasting shame is already here with what we have done to Iraq.
Nuking Iran just compounds the horrible karma we are already accruing.

14. Um. We need to do something about this.
We need a STOP US BEFORE WE KILL AGAIN campaign. I am afraid of my government. I'm afraid for myself and for the entire world. Everyone write their representatives. Hell, even if you aren't American, WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. Tell them to make us stop. Tell China and the Saudis. They technically own us.

Oh crap, the Chinese and the Saudis own us. That won't help. Nothing but repressive regimes as far as the eye can see.

19. that's the problem
thanks to various religions mankind has always accepted the "end" to be inevitible. What they don't seem to grasp is that all these various prophecies are MEANT TO BE FUCKING WARNINGS!!! Whether actually of divine nature or the writings of mad geniuses with foresight there is no cosmic point of warning someone of impending disaster if it is unable to be averted. Also I don't see how people jumped on the bandwagon that we should be the ones to cause it. Will we all get wiped out by an asteroid or climate change someday? Probably. My plan is to stick around long enough to enojy this life until it hits or I rot or at the very least the aliens take pity on us and give us warp drive or something. Although for the sake of the rest of the universe I would advise them against it at this time.
