This Pink Video Had Me Crying Like A Baby
I know this has been mentioned on DU numerous times before, in fact this is where I first found it.

But for the benefit of insomniacs and early-risers, you have to see this.

This is the moment when I became 100% sure that Pink was NOT a flash in the pan.

Just wow.

My breath is taken away.

Make sure and buy it new this time around. You might buy other CDs off of ebay, etc. to get a better deal, but buy this one in the stores, so that it helps this sort of music climb the charts.

I just bought the CD today at Costco for $11.99. Great place to get it. Get the best progressive music this year to date at a blue company for a decent price to boot! We should all get it there to send a message!

11. I think the smear campaign has already started
AOL had a poll last week asking who was the bigger bad girl, P!nk or someone else whose name has escaped me.

I found Dear Mr. President on Rhapsody. It was in the top 100 songs last week. This week it's gone and Stupid Girls has slipped from 28 to 50 on Rhapsody's charts.

13. Was that recorded for MTV?
I asked this in the other thread, but that's a busy place.

MTV censored Nine Inch Nails once upon a recent time because they wanted to perform an anti-war song at the Movie Awards. I'd be interested to know if this was recorded by the same Bush-sucking corporate outlet, since it seems to me like it would be an indication of the times changing.

I kind of get the impression that Pink had her own crew record the performance and put it out on the net. But that's just a hunch.

20. Damn.
I honestly thought I was as affected as I can be, but when she busted into that part about "hard work" I pretty much lost it.

Amazing the way music, when done as well as that, can be so moving and emotionally wrenching.

27. That was so good.
I was going to say it didn't make me cry, but there are a few tears in my eyes now.

I just recently saw Pink on the Ellen DeGeneres show, and she did "Stupid Girl."

This is so heartening.

Music was such an integral part of the "movement" of the late 60's and 70's.

In this video Pink is obviously speaking for so many of us, young, not so young.

:applause:

48. Yeah subtle doesn't come to mind
when listening to that song. I wonder what the legalities would be about setting up a giant projection screen in front of the white house and blaring this video as loud as we could. If it's only a misdemeanor I'd be up for it. One thing. I'd probably need to borrow about 20 thousand dollars off someone. :D

44. I have the best visual image when I hear it
I am at Camp Casey, sitting across the table from Cindy and right next to her sister DeDe. DeDe is telling Cindy "You KNOW she wrote this for you".

When I close my eyes, I am in that tent. I hope that image NEVER goes away.

Chick, you HAVE TO GO with me in August. It is so incredible.

49. I don't know.......
why some posters are revealing their age--this song is for all ages--awesome, terrific, beautifully performed, ad infinitum. Reminds me of the anti-war ballads of the sixties--I'm more than happy, I'm thrilled, to see young adults actively engaging this bogus administration. Go Liz West!! :woohoo:
P.S. Yes, Syrinx, I cried too. Burning CDs to hand out to my friends--too powerful not to share.

50. I think that is the point!
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 01:16 PM by calipendence
We're trying to point out that she has a whole new audience with this song! Heck, my mom liked it last night too, and she's not big on today's music either. I think for those of us who listen now to Buffalo Springfield, Phil Ochs, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Edwin Starr, etc. and moan about nothing being here now to take its place, Pink helps renew our hope that there is some substantive and potentially very popular music like the old 60's music for today too! That she can get stuff out that defies the machine! Even though it looks like even YouTube has somehow extracted the live video clip from showing up in today's "most viewed" ratings. Just a while ago it was rated #1 today, and now it's nowhere to be seen in today's ratings... Hmmm!!! The machine is trying to fight back, but it looks like it's having a tougher time of it here!
