Is anyone else convinced that something bad will happen before Nov?
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 12:43 AM by TwoSparkles
I was just wondering if I'm the only person--who feels a bit braced and somber--because you anticipate some kind of stunt before the November elections?

I know it's tinfoilish...but I feel like my mind and body is braced for something really big and really bad that's going to happen soon.

It's the only way they stand a chance of staying in power, after November.

Am I smoking my socks, or does anyone else commiserate?

(I'm also really bothered by nightmares I've had lately. PNACers frolicking around in my subconscious--that's not pleasant.)

1. I feel that something will happen
Unsure of what it is...I truly fear the madman will bomb Iran.
But there will be a sentinel event before the elections, whether this current administration is on the offense or defense remains to be seen.

2. There is one set of circumstances where I think not
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 12:50 AM by sad_one
...that is if our elections are already so rigged that Dems can't win even with a landslide
then we might make it without some terrible event...I'm not sure which is worse

3. I don't know if it'll be "bad".
Either good or bad, but essentially some sort of staged phoney garbage to keep the masses in line and properly programmed.

4. Nope,
only worried about low voter turn-out for the midterms. I'm HOPING the price of gassing up the ol' workmobile and higher cost of everything will have more people fully awake and paying attention by then. If that isn't enough to spur folks to the polls we really are doomed.

5. The incumbent republicans....
...are frolicking on their cloven little hoofs and betting it will be so...realistically GWB has got to know that as things sit, he is less than a decade from the Hague...this fall will be interesting.

6. Only one thing will prevent the attack on Iran
Either:
Katrina Redux - but worse, or
Great San Francisco Earthquake of 1906 Redux - but worse.
Either or both of which will be totally screwed up.

10. The price of gas would only go way above the roof if the second..
biggest producers of oil (next to Saudi Arabia...) is attacked <<<<<<<<<<<Iran

Filling-up to four or five times what it already cost now... that's for sure...

Wouldn't hurt the havemore$ (??) But the middle (and the poor) like never before...

But you're right, KNOWING how everything the Deceiver touches turns into mud...

The only way ** ever knew how to get himself out of his hole($) is to dig deeper...

Not reassuring, indeed...

8. I think it worries all of us, deep down. I don't think it's a
tinfoil-based concern. We've seen these bastards in action long enough to suspect them capable of almost anything. An October Surprise is almost certain. Whether it will be of the "nab Osama" variety or a terrorist attack, or a bombing raid on Iran, is the only question.

It could be very bad. Then again, they might "pull Osama out of a hat" as Howard Dean so archly put it. At any rate, it's going to be a very tense few months.

12. Mike Malloy was talking about this the other night
Something about how he had some strange psychic sensation of cold "clamminess," or something like that.

Well, when maniacs rule the world, something big and bad is probably going to happen.

13. Sure if there is room for any more. Black Monday is here
For any one that gets on a plane I think the new stuff in the FCC should be the end. I still think that it will be a mad rush now to get every thing passed in Congress that the far right has wanted and they will be back Monday.

14. The only explanation for Bush's continued smugness...
is his ever more obvious certainty the fix is in. As to what form it will take, it's anyone's guess: initially probably just the dirtiest politics the nation has ever seen. But if a Congressional majority of genuinely progressive Democrats truly still seems headed for victory regardless of all the Rove/Norquist countermoves, the regime's final ploy will be that of the Reichstag Fire: cancellation of the elections and indefinite suspension of the Constitution -- in other words, fulfillment of the capitalist purpose for which Bush was given the presidency. And I've never been more sure of anything in my life.

15. I am braced and ready as I can be. But only know a few who
share my frame of mind. Just waiting, and not into trying to tell others. If they can't get it , so be it.Heavy feelings about the future. June, I think.

16. The Scenario
I wrote this ltte( never got published, I wonder why) during the Dubai Ports deal. In it I tried to put together everytin foil hat theory I could find. Did I leave any out?

"The Scenario"
"Coming to America in the near future.
A tip is received by the United Arab Emirate company that runs the port in Miami. It is turned over to the NSA, who launch a wiretap and intercept conversations regarding a ship heading for our Southeast coast. On October 9th, F-16 fighters are scrambled just as the ship launches a low yield nuclear missile. The fighters intercept the missile and explode it in air in the waters just off of Cuba. Most of the fallout rains down over Guantanamo Bay. The ship is captured and is found to be of Iranian registry and has most recently left from a port in Venezuela. Another bomb is discovered on board and it has North Korean markings.Fear and mass hysteria break out in America and martial law is enacted.
What a nice package and pretty bow.
The UAE keeps their ports. The NSA is off the hook. Cuba is devastated and the prison in Guantanamo is declared off limits. Iran gets nuked along with N. Korea and Venezuela. Because of the martial law all political dissidents and illegal immigrants are rounded up and put in detention facilities and elections are canceled until further notice. George Bush declares himself to be President for a third term and the current Congress is to stay in session until things get back to normal.
10/9, a far fetched, tin foil hatted, impossible to believe scenario hatched by a lame duck administration with nothing left to lose?
Let's really, really hope so."

18. There are two options: (A little solace a little scary)
1) If they are rational or egotistical enough to think they can win back power in the decade, they will pull the usual dirty crap and illegal voterigging. If they do that for an ordinary election, and they will, makes the next one possible;

2) If they think they are going to lose power in a big way, they are going to do something truly horrible, yes. Something bad.
