Oh boy from another board
Edited on Tue Jan-10-06 12:15 AM by nadinbrzezinski
I actually had an honest to goodness argument with a person who claims to be a Black Water merc... and yes I did tell him, for him to justify the mess makes sense... it is his livelihood and as a merc I don't expect less. But the amount of crap he was spewing... the oldie but goodie, child into meat grinder... and yes we found enough WMDs to kill a city (sarin gas), He said that I sounded like all the pundits.... and I went, surely you jest the American Press has covered the PNAC plan... prove me wrong, ONE paper front page story over the fold... and I will gladly eat crow, one caveat though it has to be an American Paper.

It was fun... but it raised another issue, which I actually did adress... we live in two different realities and his red facts will never square with my blue facts... scary but what this country needs is a truth and reconciliation commission. (Nor did I adress facts that way, just that we live in two different realities)

Oh and did tell him, enjoyed your time in NOLA and no you were not contracted for security only, and yes we expect you guys on American streets more often now, and no we are not paranoid... nor it is for protection.

He, I hope, decided to call it a day...

1. That guy was no real merc.....
One worth his salt doesn't talk about what he gets up to. Plus, with all the governement spying on the net and phones, he's looking at losing his security clearance if he really is one.

3. I know that, yuo know that
why I said he claims to be one.

I met one locally at a game store, and lets just say he knows I despise him for being a merc... and yes that one does work for Caqui... but this one, he claims to be one.

5. Most of the mercs I know are politically neutral....
They are just in it for the money and aren't interested in spreading an agenda. * has certainly generated more work, but face it, if we weren't in Iraq, bush or no bush, the US would be screwing with someone, somewhere, and these guys would still be working.

13. No, not all Mercs are
some are indeed very open about what they do... within operational safety, that is. The one I know... he does not give a shit about who or what, just the fact that the pay is good... and that is a true Merc

8. bush floats TRUTH on Iraq; IT'S THE OIL, STUPID!
bush's close personal pal, Rep Hall (R) floats the facts;

“The War on Terror involves keeping the bad guy from having his foot on half the oil reserves in that most populated area,”

Hall terms it “a war for energy,” a strategy Bush downplays.

“He (bush) sees energy as a secondary purpose,” Hall continued. “It is clearly a strong secondary purpose, and in my belief the real reason for going over there.”

http://web.theparisnews.com/story.lasso?wcd=24524

*god bless george w bush for sending american boys & girls to war to die or be maimed & scarred for life so we 5% of the world population can continue to enjoy 25% of the world's oil! thank you george w bush!

*If you can't tell this is the height of bloody angry sarcasm, then you're a MFing rightwingnut moran and should just FO and die, preferably in Iraq for george w bush's oil war.

9. Lynn do tell us how you feel
:-)

By the way, I also mentioned that... that one of the reasons for this damn war is Oil... heck I am not in the mood to look for it, but for hells bells it IS in the PNAC plan too... (Rebuilding America's Defenses)

by the way the local Merc... he cares not why we are there... for him the money is good, and as he puts it... make it while I can... and I am young enough.

Of course I asked him one day, how the hell he sleeps at night and lives with himself?

By the way my game book is finally out... and I think I succeeded in not glorifying war (what will fearless leader do), taking pot shots at our politicians, using some as models, and yep describing Mercs as the scum of the earth they are... oh and did mention in that fluff current things leading to major problems and there are days I swear I was writing prophecy.

I am pleased, now lets see if the X-Box Generation likes a game that if you choose to play soldier you might die... heck it IS war.

16. WOW CONGRATS TO YOU!!!
Congrats on your game book! Did you post in the Lounge or summat with details so we can Buy Blue?

That's FAB on ya!

I don't sleep well at night, haven't since I started with the Iraq Coalition Casualty Count...but at least my lack of sleep is from a clean & very troubled soul, not a dirty & very troubled one. THANK YOU GOD for giving me the true compassion & morality to NOT be a warmongering-for-oil MFing moran! I consider that one of the greatest blessings that can be bestowed on (most but obviously not all) humans.

20. Here is the summary for you I just posted at the Lounge
the release of the Future Nexus Core book.

Characteristics of the Core Rule Book

*
Fast, flexible character creation rules. You can use skill packages only, a skill list or a combination of the two
*
Fast combat system that incorporates any level of play you want to do, from the cinematic to the hyper-gritty.
*
An easy to follow construction system that will allow you, as it stands right now, to build anything from a wheelchair, yes we did it, to a system defense network.
*
A tactical combat system, so if your choice is to push lead, you have the rules
*
Lots and I mean LOTS of fluff. Three systems have even been detailed quite a bit. When all was said and done, I believe one third of the book IS fluff.

This is a Paper and Pencil D12 engine, and I am sure some will like it just for the fluff.

Anyway here are the options on how to get it.

Print (POD at Lulu.com) they do a fantastic job of binding and all that... the link is at my site
PDF (at RPGEdge.com again the link is at the site)
Print in person at San Diego Retailers. The book is already available at Game Towne, and once I get the next micro print run hopefully at Game Empire, two of our local retailers.

Right now I am looking at getting this into the distributor chain.

Oh and Barnes and Noble, you just have to go and give them the ISBN and they will place the order at Lulu for you... the process will be fairly transparent to you.

And yes, you might be able to identify who and what exactly were the inspiration for most of this.

Oh and future product, as I take a break from editing, the first novel should be ready to go to print in two weeks... and the first source book by the end of the quarter. We might be a small start up... but we intend to stay 'round for a long time.

Oh and did I mention that you don't have to buy if you want to try before you buy, you can download the LITE version of the book that will allow you to test the engine. It does not have some major items such as he tactical rules, the fluff, and the construction system... but there is enough fluff there for you to play with and see if you like the system.

15. A lot of a-holes claim to be Seals and Spec Ops, usually in bars

and on the internet and they are full of chit. There's a website that disproves such as this as well as military decorations and combat zone service but I can't remember the URL.
