The youngest Pointer Sister has died
of cancer at the age of 52. I did not catch her name on the radio news story but I did thoroughly enjoy their production.

1. Oh no. I just heard Slow Hand on Boomer Radio just a few
minutes ago. That is sad. My favorite was Jump.

2. June

Born November 30, 1954 in East Oakland, CAThe youngest Pointer Sister, June Pointer recorded her own Planet LP in 1983. One single, "Ready for Some Action," made it to the R&B Top 30, but the LP did very little. She sang background vocals on Bruce Willis' Top 10 pop single "Respect Yourself" in 1987

5. June Pointer, 52.
Hate that! The Pointer Sisters were so great - I have a lot of their albums. I wondered what happened to them. Very sad. Rest in peace, June, and thanks for all the wonderful songs and memories.

6. Jump! For my Love! Jump In!!
They had another hit with a little number written by the Doobie Brothers, and whose version of the tune is also awesome:

Echoes of Love

RIP June! You were somethin' back in the day!

8. Echoes of Love, by the Doobie Brothers, also recorded by Pointer Sisters

I hear your voice everywhere
It's echoes of love
Making me look back over my shoulder
Echoes of love are started all over
Echoes of love
Keeps on haunting
I'm out of control
Keeps on burning
Echoes of love are out of control
Bringing back love I used to hold

Darlin', since you went away
Think about you every day
So many memories
Got to get the best of me

Recalling the times
I used to hold you
I just wouldn't do
What I was supposed to
I've done things
I'd like to undo
Now darlin' it's you
I'd like to run to

Echoes of love
Keeps on haunting
I'm out of control
Keeps on burning
Echoes of love are out of control
Bringing back love I used to hold

Echoes of love
Echoes of love
Love, echoes of love
Keeps on haunting
Echoes of love, echoes of love
Keeps on burning
Echoes of love
-------------------------------------

I'm listening to it NOW.

7. Oh, dear. What a loss.
Few probably remember "Fairy Tale" but it was my favorite.
"Shakey Flat Blues" was a close second.
They could sing ANYTHING.

10. Fairytale- my favorite too.
I'll pack up all my things and walk away
I don't want to hear another word you have to say
I've been waiting for so long,
(so long)
I just found out there's something wrong,
(something is wrong)
nothing will get better if I stay

There's no need to explain anymore
I tried my best to love you,
now I'm walkin' out the door
(walking out the door)
You used me, you've deceived me,
(what you trying to do to me?)
and you never seem to need me
but I'll bet, you won't forget me when I go
(Oh no, no, no)

Seems I've been lost in a dream,
pretending that you care
and now I've opened up my eyes,
and found it's all been just a great big fairytale
I've been lovin' you so long,
(my love's so strong)
don't think I'll even know how to forget you
(I can't forget you)
but now the way that things have been,
I think I'm better off alone,
than to be with you
You don't love me it's plain to see

9. I actually met her several years ago. How sad to hear this.
She was too young (younger than me is always too young!). I upgraded to first class several years ago on an Atlanta to Los Angeles flight and found myself sitting next to June. We talked about music for much of the flight. Very gracious and friendly.
