The face of fear and desperation
One only need look at the response of Silvio Berlusconi to realize just how panicked he is. I watched one of his "speeches" on Asia-Pacific News on how he was not going to concede. This is a man who sees the handwriting on the wall. If he loses he's finished and will probably go to jail within two years.
He is so desperate that he is willing to talk with the Center-Left Party about forming a German Style Unity Government.
If you want to know what scrub will look like a year from now, watch Berlusconi.

1. Prodi doesn't seem all that interested in his coalition offer...

The leaders in charge when the Coalition of the Willing got going are falling like dominos. Aznar's Conservatives in Spain? history. Now Berlusconi. And pretty soon Tony Blair will be a chapter in history. That leaves only one neocon monster to deal with!

2. If I was Prodi I wouldn't be interested either
An interesting note:
On the day that Berlusconi appears to have been toppled Italy's most powerful Mafia boss was arrested in Sicily. Italy's two biggest criminals bagged the same day.

LOL.
And isn't Berlusconi subject to prosecution once his term as Prime Minister is over? Wasn't there some kind of deal to hold off on any prosecution of him while he was in charge of the country?

4. That, and also Shurb and his cronies should be concerned if
Berlusconi goes - the whole story of the Niger forgeries just may come to light, if Prodi decides to skewer Berlusconi and Bush.

But it's not a done deal yet. Watch this space.......
