Thanks!

2. It's Funny and Tragic
Today I had an e-mail from a relative who apparently was still slurping the kool-aid:

Subject: A Billion

>Here's some thought provoking information -
>
>The next time you hear a politician use the word "billion" in a casual
>manner, think about whether you want the politicians spending your tax
>money.
>
>A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency
>did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its
>releases.
>
>a.. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
>
>b.. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
>
>c.. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
>
>d.. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
>
>e.. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our
>government is spending it.
>
>While this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look a t New
>Orleans - It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division
>............
>
>Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for
>$250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans.
>
>Interesting number, what does it mean?
>
>Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman,
>child), you each get $516, 528.
>
>Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans, your home gets
>$1,329,787
>
>Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.
>
>Washington, D.C. ! ........................Are all your calculators
>broken????
>
>Maybe everyone should just flood their houses, then we can all be on the
>"big easy" street for the rest of our lives, and forget about working, and
>paying taxes and all that useless stuff!

If it were bad enough there are plenty of freeper things to read on the different freeper blogs, this e-mail made me mad and sad.

I wrote back the following:

Dear Relative:

We have spent in three years over a trillion dollars in Iraq --and the estimate is around 3 trillion.

One trillion is 95 miles high of $1 bills piled up. 2,300 US men and women are dead, and counting. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis are dead or maimed.

560 billion could fix social security for another 75 or more years.

And while Landrieu's asking price is high for the next 20 years, bear in mind that during the month of March when thousands of students came down to help clean up the mess, not a single government contractor or FEMA was in sight. All of the kids and volunteers had to wear special gear or else it could be life threatening.

So where did the money go to? Sure as hell wasn't in the St. Bernard parish.

A lot of people will not be going back to NOLA.

I hope you will rethink your position before faxing your senators.

I felt like sending that person the link of A**hole!

4. If you Stack 2,360 dead soldiers end to end,
they would stretch 2.5 miles: all the way from the White House to the Capitol.
