3. You mentioned nukes, do you mean a nuclear fall out shelter? If so I doubt
many people today own one although there were some in the fifties.

10. Understand but such a shelter would need supplies to protect
for some period of time. I'll bet the group best prepared to handle such an emergency are members of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints aka Mormons.

8. Lewis Black explains it all...
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 05:06 PM by mark11727
You know what they would do?

They would come to my elementary school with films to show me how to protect myself from a nuclear-fuck-holocaust.

They would show this giant nuclear-fucking-bomb just blowing the shit out of everything.

Goats and monkeys flying everywhere!!

The windows of the elementary school blown out, the teacher banged up against the fucking blackboard.

But there were the children... hiding safely under their desks.

16. That picture brings back memories...
I grew up on a SAC base and we drilled constantly as they felt the enemy would try to take out the SAC bases first... We had a house with a huge closet, it was the hurricane closet and the bomb closet and we had to go in there at times to drill, as well as the under-the-desk drills I did at school...

But a house for sale in Glens Falls ,New York last month advertised a bomb shelter as a selling point. I was tempted ( just because it is a piece of history). I want to go with everybody else when they drop the big one!

12. I remember going to the State Fair as a teenager in 1960, 1961 . . .
and seeing the bomb shelters for sale. There were many different models, some with complex ventilation systems and storage for months of supplies. Lots of people were buying them then, and today they serve as tornado shelters and root cellars. Maybe they'll come in handy soon.

there is one on my property.

I didn't even know about it until I had a yard sale one day and someone came by who knew about it.

The original owners had installed this 10 x 10 box that you could buy and bury in the ground, so you could have your own shelter in the event of a nuke attack. It had little vents that stick up out of the ground. Lot of good they would have done.

Anyway, the last owner's wife was deathly afraid of snakes and other animals, so she had the thing filled up with rocks. I guess I could always dig it out if it came down to it?
