Where do your tax dollars go?
From the National Priorities Project...

Find out how the federal income taxes paid in your state or city are spent @ http://www.nationalpriorities.org/taxday

4. Some notes and questions (MILITARY SPENDING UNDERSTATED)

My comments refer to the results of the OP's link...

First off, "benefits for veterans" IS THE MILITARY - cute how they break that out...

Second: the interest on the debt - HOW MUCH OF THAT DEBT WAS INCURRED BY THE *MILITARY* (with veterans benefits)??

"To measure actual spending by the United States on defense, take the federal budget number for the Pentagon and double it."

For a specific glimpse of how this figure is skewed, take a look at these pages:
http://www.cdi.org/issues/realtota.html
http://www.independent.org/newsroom/article.asp?id=1253

PS: "Health care" = MEDICARE - OK, let's take a note: the people GETTING medicare PAID for it. It's NOT DISCRETIONARY.
