Prediction: Osama will be found in the next 2 - 3 months
Think about this - the key to the repukes taking back the white house in 2004 was Saddam's capture.

The war is tanking, Delay is gone, and the truth about House / Senate republicans is coming out on a daily basis, and they're dropping like flies.

Bush's approval rating is less than 40% and continues to drop on a daily basis.

The only thing left that would save their asses is the capture of Osama Bin Laden.

Sure, that would suck if they won (er, stole) the next election but this is the only thing that has the potential to save their sorry asses now.

8. Plus...
Repubes needs their boogeyman to scare the public with...without OBL..they've really got nothing to run on especially if Roe v. Wade is completely overturned and their "harsh" immigration bill is passed. Their only hope is fear--keeping the public afraid.

keeping his joke of a presidency alive!

3. I don't think it matters
Most people aren't going to equate the capture of Bin Laden with Republicans nor should they.

5. True...
I believe they'll pull Osama out of his cave come Nov. 06 or Nov. 08--but will it really make much of a difference now...after all that has been exposed about the war in Iraq, the corruptions, scandals--the people are fed up and the timing will be truly telling that Osama's capture is just a political ploy...there are those who believe OBL is under the Bush payroll every time he appears via video with his latest rhetoric...so the timing of his capture will be seen as proof that OBL and the Bush clan are in cahoots...

9. I think it's too late for that.
A captured Osama doesn't extricate us from Iraq or fend off a civil war there.

A captured Osama doesn't keep Iran from developing nukes, or Bush from bombing them.

A captured Osama doesn't bring back dead soldiers nor missing limbs nor damaged brains.

A captured Osama doesn't restore our civil rights.

A captured Osama doesn't put money in our treasury.

A captured Osama doesn't stop or slow down out-sourcing nor immigration.

A captured Osama doesn't keep Fundie nut-jobs from influencing our goverment.

I think it could have done them some good a couple of years ago, but not any more.

11. Nah, they'll just release another video or audio of him the week before
the elections where he'll either denounce Bushco or say something positive about Democrats so all the fucking idiots in this country who voted for Bush will get mad and vote for repukes again. Republicans are probably putting it together as we speak.

16. Vanity Fair - this month has a really good article on Afghanistan.
Pakistan is playing both sides of the fence. The article indicated that the US gives money to Pakistan to past out in any way they see fit to get the warlords on our side. At the same time Pakistan trains members of the Taliban to fight against us and accepts money from OBL not to bring him in.

Who knows.

17. Sorry, but no. The Bush and Bin Laden families are very closely...
...linked at all levels. I wouildn't be a bit surprised to discover that Osama played a starring role as the bad guy in a global conspiracy involving both families.

20. Could be. But capture of OBL just one of several stories
the administration could use to help in elections. Not only does this administration control how the stories are written, they control what events occur. We could see any number of stories emerge to help incumbents and GOP, including those having to do with terrorist threats, OBL or Zaraqawi captured or killed, WMD found, Hussein convicted, a lull in Iraq violence, an increase in Iran threat, an OBL video, an overblown illegal immigrant problem, temporary drop in gas prices, fake economic good news, etc. etc.

IMO, it won't take much to get back a chunk of voters...fake news, spin, fear, spin, polarization, spin, smear, spin. This election cycle seems to be revolving around illegal immigration and nuclear threat. Last time it was gay marriage and terrorism.

They've spent billions of dollars and a couple of decades getting where they are today. They won't give up without pulling out all the stops.
