BEYOND BELIEF MEDIA LAUNCHES PREEMPTIVE STRIKE ON EASTER
Copies Of Controversial Documentary Are Hidden In Churches Throughout U.S.

Hollywood -- April 11, 2006. Declaring War on Easter, Beyond Belief Media has launched a preemptive attack on the Christian holiday, the company announced today. "Operation Easter Sanity" has already begun.

Using its documentary THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE as the chief weapon, Beyond Belief Media is covertly planting DVDs of the film in churches throughout the United States. The popular movie, currently ranked #1 on Amazon.com's independent documentaries list, is critical of the irrational beliefs of Christians and asserts that Jesus Christ did not exist.

A total of 666 DVDs will be hidden like "Easter eggs" in sanctuaries, church yards and other holy areas by Beyond Belief Media's national team of volunteers. The DVDs will be slipped into hymnals and other locations where they are likely to be discovered by unsuspecting worshipers.

Some DVDs of THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE will be planted by undercover operatives among actual Easter eggs at churches holding egg hunts on Easter Sunday.

"People go to churches to hide from the truth," explained Beyond Belief Media president Brian Flemming, a former Christian fundamentalist. "At no time is this more apparent than Easter, when Christians get together to convince each other that a man died, stayed dead three days, rose from the dead and then flew into the air above the clouds.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WAR ON EASTER AND GET A FREE COPY OF THE DVD
http://www.waroneaster.org/how-to-join

Your mission, if you choose to accept it:

1. If you have a DVD of The God Who Wasn’t There, place it in a Christian church between now and Easter Sunday. Take pictures of yourself doing it (very important), and email them with your report to pictures@beyondbeliefmedia.com so that we can publish your mission on the site. In return, you will get a brand new DVD of The God Who Wasn’t There to replace the one you planted. If you also place some flyers in the same church (see below) your DVD will be personally inscribed and signed by The God Who Wasn’t There director Brian Flemming.

2. If you don’t currently have a DVD, download a flyer or two at this link, and print out a bunch of copies. Hide these copies creatively (see below) in one or more Christian churches between now and Easter Sunday. Take pictures of yourself doing at least one plant (very important), and email them with your report to pictures@beyondbeliefmedia.com so that we can publish your mission on the site. In return, you will get a brand new DVD of The God Who Wasn’t There. If your mission hits more than one church, your DVD will be personally inscribed and signed by Brian Flemming.

Phonecam pix are fine–it just has to show the action happening. Another shot of the church itself would be nice, too. Examples and tips for smooth sailing are below.

To sum up, email your mission report to pictures@beyondbeliefmedia.com. The report should include 1) Your description of the mission. 2) Pictures from the mission. 3) Your mailing address, so we can send your DVD. 4) Any inscription you would like if you’re getting a signed DVD. (We won’t publish your name or any personal information about you on the site–just your mission report and pictures. Tell us the nickname you want us to use if you want to be credited as other than “Anonymous Operative”.)

1. Then I suppose these folks have no problem
if church members slip into their homes, meeting halls, or whatever, and surreptitiously slip Bibles, Chick Tracts, etc. into their bookshelves.

A clandestine "war on Easter." That's a hoot. We make fun of the fundies for talking about a "war on Christianity" and these bozos go and give them the proof of it by publicly declaring war.

Last time I looked, freedom of religion also meant freedom from religion; I don't see anyone forcing conversion at gunpoint.

Why can't we all just have a modicum of respect for each other's beliefs?

4. What is crazy?
Having a modicum of respect for other's beliefs, even if you disagree with them? Treating others with respect?

If that's crazy, I guess I need to be committed -- to the asylum.

3. I think that is the point...
religion is thrust upon non-believers everywhere. Even in Government, we hear it daily.

Will be interesting to see if there is any reaction.

6. Christians ARE always distributing their propaganda
examples include Gideon Bibles, Clear Channel Billboards with "God Bless America" and "Pray For America" and other "Christian Nation" slogans, Chick tracts and other less entertaining tracts left in grocery stores, on bookshelves, pasted to telephone poles, etc.

Not only that, but Christians organize "wolf-packs" and go on door-to-door conversion missions (called "witnessing").

This "War on Easter" is really a quite mild response in kind to what they are doing all the time.

7. So don't answer the door.
Don't pick up the Gideon Bible in the hotel room. Don't read the Chick Tract (although a lot of folks here find them quite amusing!).

What's different here is the sneaking into churches and putting this stuff in the pews. I think it's sneaky and frankly inexcusable. If the people behind this movement don't have the spine to challenge the religious face to face, in the public forum, in the marketplace of ideas, they should probably STFU.

I find the sneakiness of it all revolting.

8. Someone left a CARTON OF FREE JESUS DVDs in my condo lobby yesterday -
This one:
http://www.thejesusvideo.org/

It seems this is a huge christian crusade this year - leaving these Jesus DVDs around. And I'll bet the churches get to write off the expense, too.

So is someone fighting fire with fire?
