on credit card transactions. If you go to wal-mart you will notice that when you swipe your debit card it automatically asks for a pin number, you have to chose cancel then choose credit. I have had the clerks ask "isn't it a debit card? why do you want to run it as credit, just punch in your pin number." Once one actually engaged in the conversation with me I think she was in management and knew what is going own. I told her I would rather the transaction be as "credit" so wal-mart instead of my bank would have to pay the processing fee. She sighed and asked why would you want to do that, why would you want us to have to pay the processing fee, do you know how many of those we have in a day? I said "Do you know how many my bank has in a day? You are the one wanting to sell me something, that is a cost of doing business." But we don't have to pay that cost, you can choose to let your bank pay it, just punch in your pin, it is a debit card, you really shouldn't be able to choose the credit option. I told her "sorry, I can't remember my PIN." She finally punched credit and I got my stuff.
I think the management of the stores get a bonus if they are able to lower the store's processing fee costs, I don't think the other workers are that concerned about it, but I'm sure they will get a script to use in they don't get their bank.
