Townhall.com Columnist does a good debunking of the 'war on Christians'
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 09:52 AM by ck4829
"If you listen to some conservative evangelicals these days, we are all standing in the middle of the battlefield of a great war. The War on Terrorism you say? Nope. Bigger. It's the War on Christians. Whose side are you on?

A recent conference sponsored by Vision America entitled, "The War on Christians and The Values Voter in 2006," and another event, "Justice Sunday III" sponsored by Focus on the Family Action, have once again shown that some conservative Christians revel in their role as victims.

Some Christian leaders have stepped out of both appropriate and rational bounds in their attempt to label the current state of play in the United States a war.

It's inaccurate and borderline offensive to equate the current "struggle" of Christians to African-Americans during the civil rights era, the plight of Jews during the Holocaust, and even the suffering of Jesus Christ himself on the cross. But that's what this particular group of Christians has done recently."

1. The war on FSMism is analogous to the war on terror
We ALL need to pull together. Ramen, brothers and sisters. :silly:

2. This is such a baseless accusation. The fundies keep trying to
insert themselves and their doctrine into every aspect of our lives. Then when someone complains that they have overstepped their bounds, they start crying "War on Christianity". This, to me, is the same rationale of painting airplanes to look like they belong to the U.N. in an attempt to draw fire so you can start a war.

3. The religiously insane foot soldiers of the radical christian right
have been trained to believe that any attempt by anyone to keep them from destroying the constitution and replacing it with the bible is tantamount to "persecution." "Christian conservatives" are the number one domestic enemy of the constitution and they are hypocrites to boot. How many people do they stone to death who work on Sunday?? Ignorant, arrogant bastards who do not deserve the constitutional liberties they would deny other citizens because of their beliefs.
