I am not generally a worry-prone person, but...

1) * is insane and seems to harbor messianic delusions
2) he has lost all popular support
3) he is controlled by neocons and is insulated from rational, dissenting opinions
4) now he is talking about nuking Iran
5) I am worried that in his desparation, he is actually going to carry through an act that will lead to a catastrophic outcome like global warfare and/or the use of nuclear weapons
6) as the parent of two young sons, I am frightened for their future

I do not offer this in a polly-anna-ish sense that everything was fine up to now. The last five years have been a fucking disaster. However, *'s decreasing hold on sanity and desparation seem to have raised the stakes to a new level.

this could have all been one grand plan from the start. They've been looking at options for attacking Iran for a couple of years now. Bush said just recently that he knew exactly what was going to happen when he attacked Iraq. Hard to say if this is just a delusional lie, or colossal arrogance. I wish I knew, but it's scary as hell either way.

But if it's any consolation, every day is a gift, all we have truly is this moment, this right now..Always have. Nobody is promised tomorrow, and in the greater sense of the word, it's a miracle that we've made it this far. Humanity I mean, we've had the ability to destroy ourselves completely for decades and it hasn't happened yet for some reason. That is a miracle. We simply have to hold on to hope, somehow, some way.

I know that I've been going through the same crisis of faith and loss of hope. It's fucking insanity, with what Bill Clinton handed this Administration that we're facing this today, it's wrong.. Maybe it's insane, but in an alternate parallel universe there's a peaceful United States under it's rightful President Gore and my peaceful twin counterpart is enjoying it. Unfortunately we're stuck here in this nightmare.

I hug and kiss all my loved ones every day, and simply try to live that day to the fullest. I've resigned myself to whatever happens, happens.

I agree. I never lose sight of how lucky I am and what is important in life (even when my boys are jumping on me in bed at 5:30 in the morning!).

I am not despairing... just astonished at the new extremes that this administration leads us to everyday. Once the idea of preemptively attacking countries or using nuclear weapons seemed to fantastic to even consider as a possibility. Now, I think that *'s and the puppetmasters' desire to control the country and the world knows no limits.

Anyway, thanks for the reminder of what is important...

9. I think it's the "insane" part that disturbs me the most.

I could live with rational, but wrong. There would be a hope that SOMEONE would be able to get through to a rational person who had not considered all the facts and could change his mind. Or someone who was bankrupt of ethics and morals could "see the light" and change his course.

But someone who's insane? No.

It's like having all the telephones switched off and you can't get through.

He has to be removed. Plain and simple. The Constitution is on our side (" . . . the removal of the President from Office, . . . or Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of the Said Office" and the same standard applies to the Vice President.

16. As scary as it is we have to be hopeful for our kids sake.

I worry about our anxiety being part of their childhood. My kids are big, 22, 19 and 15 but they will remember this time as anxious. There is no way around that. But we have to remember that things happen for a reason. I really believe that. After 23 years of marriage at 42 years old I have had my share of worry. Last time I was this anxious on a daily basis Reagan was in and I had a 2 and a 4 year old. And I was 24. Scary times.

But not like this. Maybe it had to get THIS bad for the stupid American people to wake the f--k up. You know what I mean? We all know these people, they dismiss us, think we are crazy, even make fun of us. I have too much class to make fun of them now, but I have made it known that I think they are foolish. I have lost respect for them and they know that, too. It is uncomfortable but I can't help it. I am parents with these people. I see their kids making mistakes and I watch them judge their own kids. It is the saddest thing. So many of these parents will call me and ask me advice as to how to deal with certain issues. I talk to them because I love the kids but every time it is a control thing. I always push them to accept that we truly have no control over our kids. If we are lucky we have control over ourselves. Our kids have to control themselves and we have to let them. The crazy Christian repugs can't and don't get that.

Here's the good part. These kids are more sophisticated than their parents. I tend to spend a lot of time with my kids' friends, mainly because I feed them. Well worth the investment. I talk to them. We talk about everything. I mean everything, especially my older daughters' friends. I don't hold back. These kids hate Bush, don't hate gay people, don't care if other people are religious, worry about the environment, aren't racist and are extremely tolerant people. Almost all of them anyway. If we can get through this rough spot, I believe that the future is bright.

The point is that worse case scenario, and brace yourself because I am the queen of imaging worse case scenarios, the planet slowly dies and we suffer a horrible death. (The silver lining is that in that world I spend every waking moment with my husband.) Look up tonight if it is clear. It doesn't make sense to me when I look up that we are it. Life, in one form or another will go in. It always does. Nobody can stop it. In the meantime, we survive. And we usually manage to do quite well. Have hope, friend, that our worse case scenario is science fiction and our best case scenario is sweeping the house and the senate in '06 and taking back the white house in '08. We are part of something big and it is scary but no matter what, life will go on. Feel good that you are among the knowing and not the ignorant. We are in good company!! I say get ready for a party!!!! :)

18. Agree about the young people

An awful lot is said and written about young people being different than the previous generation, but to me, that's a good thing. If they don't want to be the same as the people who screwed up the world, then more power to 'em. The inquisitive ones are normally the ones who are successful in life, and I don't mean financially, although they normally do all right there as well. I, too have had some interesting discussions about bush and other things with some of my daughters friends. Her boyfriend said I'm all right for an old dude. I took it as a compliment. So don't despair all, the future is in good hands. But we need to seize the present and work our tails off for progressive candidates all over America. We must take back our once great land.

I think we all knew a * presidency would be bad... bad for the working person and families, bad for the environment, bad for social services. However, remember that prior to 9/11, * was pretty ineffective, had little support, and was talking about star wars missle systems and pulling out of Kyoto.

The degree to which he has run the country and the world into the ground with his imperialism, religious fundamentalism, and elitism combined with his control of the media and trampling over constitutional checks and balances has exceeded anything most people could have imagined.
