now we just need a "win the next election button" that, with a single
press, donates 1 dollar to the democratic party. I would love a series
of more embedded "donation" friendly features, like the ability to lavish
gratuitous love by renting giant signature icons.
Its like every DU'er has a car bumper out there, covered with dirt, and
some stickers. And if you could elevate those same stickers on to the
internet, and make them clickable donation icons.
A fun one might be to charge up an icon with ten dollars. And then when
10 separate readers click on it, the icon counts down and turns in to a
flower.
on edit, perhaps with microfinance, i could configure several donation
icons to sit at the grey bar above every "sweetheart" comment, like
my "car bumper". And when you click on say the human rights watch icon,
for each ip, as with a DU poll, my donation account is deducted a small
amount, say 10 cents. Then people could have "matching" accounts, and
offer to match any donation to a "papau" cause.
I'f you can engineer a microfinance climate with the software, where people
can be generous with 1000's of a cent, every person on DU can be a donator
to a cause, as generous as they configure their accounts from thousanths
to dollars.
DU could earn big bucks for the things you and i care about. The people
who are inspired by our work, who maybe love what we believe in, those
people can get our bumper stickers, a mechanism for generosity.
I don't want to say "good post". I'll say, i like what you're about,
and i'll click 10 of my sweetheart dollars to your cause on your bumper sticker.
Then i can speak with substance rather than words. Heck, there's a lot of
grey space on these bars, dying for tag.
