Too little too late, John Kerry
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 08:35 PM by LittleClarkie
Where were you in 1968? Why did it take you til 1972 to oppose the war? You only opposed the war when it was politically expedient. There are rumors that you went to war just so you could come back a war hero and get elected to some office that way. When that didn't work, you tried being a war protester. You never did fit in with the other anti-war people. Damn fence-sitting moderate rich kid. Who did you think you were fooling?

How do you ask a man to be the last man... blah, blah, blah. Give us a break!

Does that help?

The Smear vets are no friends of mine.

I was trying to draw parallels. Badly, but that's what I was trying to do.

4. please ....
I live in Ohio and Kerry's quick split on 11/03/04 still hurts but your post is awful.

He won 3 purple hearts, a Bronze Star, and a Silver Star. I met the met the man he pulled out
of the river with shrapnel in his arm and shoulder as he exposed himself to enemy fire. He
saved the man's life. Any ?s P.M. me.

BTW Kerry volunteered for the most risky duty in the USN ..... spare me.

10. You folks should know me better than this by now
:sarcasm:

Does that help?

I was taking what people are saying about Kerry and his Iraq plan NOW and thinking, well, what if we applied that to what Kerry did in 1972. Makes about as much sense to me.

Truth is, there were those even amongst the war protesters who thought Kerry was just there to score political points. So what people say about him now is nothing new, really.

And I think his feeling are just as valid now as they were then.

I was afraid people wouldn't get it. I guess I was right. Oops.

19. Oddly enough
Some people did say that sort of thing back in the day. Some people have always been quick to pick up a smear because someone else has stolen the limelight, and don't care where the smear comes from. Back in the day, it came from Nixon. There's alot of lessons we didn't learn from Vietnam.

24. Thanks. I get so tired of the "Kerry only does things
when they're politically expedient" thing that comes even from our side.

Esp. the bit about being "too little, too late". When you think about it, he wasn't Speedy Gonzalez in the Vietnam era either, but he got there in the end. Most people seem to think he was sincere then. I was, in a weird sort of way, trying to point out that he's just as sincere now.

I see that mostly the Kerrycrats got it first. Figures they'd know what I meant.

25. Ya done good. Ya done right by the Senator. Ya done right by
America.

I'm drawn to the example of citizenship of John Kerry. He's got bucks galore and instead of sipping hiballs with the missus out on the marble patio, he's in the trenches trying to do battle for the Constitution against cement-brains like George Allen and Orrin Hatch and Jeff Sessions -- and all the other GOP neaderthals who are driving us into the ditch.

Your post spoke up in favor of a sturdy model of citizenship and a guy who represents the evolution of public service.

Hat's off to ya.

see a sarcasm, and having listened to you in the past i knew better, lo lol. but.....

yes it is a very good comparison littleclarkie. and the too little too late is total bullshit, but then, ... most of the stuff thrown at kerry is total bullshit. kinda like the last thread i read where rove is whining the dems are doing all kinds of stuff to stop repugs votes, disenfranchise voters, throw away registeration forms, ... all the stuff the pigs did. and what does rove do, gets on news, is heard and spins spins spins. totally muddies their ugliness

you could possible need right here on DU, John. People here like you, and they don't like you just by accident. You've earned their good faith and good will over a long period.

You can do anything you please. Don't hang around with anybody who tells you different.

A LOT of people are rooting for you here. Count me on that very long list someplace, and do with your life whatever you damn well want.
