"Dear Mr. President" New Song by Pink (w/ the Indigo Girls)
Sorry if this has already been posted. I heard a bit of this on Stephanie Miller this morning, and was blown away. If you have a chance to listen to it somewhere, please do! It's very powerful.

Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly

What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why

Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pay the road to hell

What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine

How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye

Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh

How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you

15. Thank you. That's a wonderful recording.
When he leaves the Washington in disgrace and when he arrives in The Hague for his trial, it can be to a musical accompaniment.

2. Heard it on Stephanie Millers show as well
And you are correct. It is an amazing song. And I'm friggin' old and normally don't listen to a lot of that type of music. But Indigo Girls are ok.

6. Wow! Wow! Wow!

That should be a hit!

It is easy for everyone to understand, the lyrics are like something out of the Civil Rights Struggle in the 60's.

It is a Marching Song and a Thinking Song.

I love it~

It is John Lennon's Imagine, Bowie's Changes, Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land,
Or We Shall Overcome.

"How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why"

10. Suffice it to say...
Pink won't be invited to perform at the next Republican National Convention. The 2004 Convention had such international luminaries as:

Michael W. Smith
Daniel Rodriguez
Daize Shayne
Ron Silver
Gatlin Brothers
Elizabeth Hasselbeck
Sara Evans
Dana Glover

All well known heavy hitters, don't you agree?

19. I stuck headphones on my kids (9+11) yesterday w/ this song.....
My older daughter did some really interesting art. My son was agitated and keeps asking questions. They understood the * issue.... their issues seem to be in the effects that * has had on others.

At their ages they are able to understand a good deal.

We have yet to have any effect (upper middle class) - no friends have been damaged either.

That's the way the BFEE wants it. PPl in our bracket keep them in power.
