I am APPALLED that anyone still supports Bush
After the conformation that 2 wars are not enough to satisfy *'s lust for war and dead human flesh, that now he wants a THIRD war, and nuclear, no less, I can't believe there is a soul on Earth who still supports this shitbag. It's as if they are cheering on the total annihilation of the planet(which come to think of it, they are). If the events in "Mars Attacks" or "Independence Day" occured in real life, these people would be rooting for the aliens. If they all have a death wish and can't wait to meet Jesus, fine, but they don't have to take the rest of the world with them!

Most of the "have mores" are onto him, too. They know his profligate spending on unwinnable wars is killing this country and queering the great deal they've had for the past 25 years.

state and local taxes, goods and services, etc. But the cheap fucks can't figure that. :spank:

15. Hillbillys and racists and ignorant tardo fundies.
In other words, most of America. Ask them:

Who is the president of Iran?

What are the names of the Simpsons children?

They will ony answer the latter. They don't know shit.

I am from the Queen City of the Ozarks, Springfield, Missouri. I think of myself as a hillbilly. But I do say there are some ignorant hillbillies out there. Our enemies are RW hatemongers, not hillbillies.

5. There are a ton of them still.
They are cult members. I think a lot of it is defiance and simply not wanting to admit they are wrong. And in a lot of cases it's simply because their "team" is winning and in power so it doesn't matter what they do or how their policies effect the country. Unfortunately they are going to be gloating for a long time, even as they themselves suffer more and more. I argue every day with these idiots on other boards, there is no end to their willful ignorance.

6. The "Left Behind" group is surprisingly large
And, yes, Rapture is behind it. Seymour Hersh wasn't kidding when he dropped "messianic" into his story.

When Armageddon is a desirable foreign policy goal, it's near impossible to argue logically.

10. It's about MONEY. Period.
Edited on Mon Apr-10-06 08:08 PM by HypnoToad
Anyone who can't see this is blinded by their beliefs.

The corporate elite want their way and they don't want to die to get it. And they want to dismantle things here so they can move out. (bit of a pity, they're somewhat responsible for the mess America is in... )

As with immigration, Schiavo, and everything else, Iran is just a big-ass distraction.

We were all terrified over Bush's apparent arrogance toward China. Yet China is bending over backwards to comply to "becoming responsible", because of "economic interests". Why don't I believe that? And why didn't corporate america whine about China's 90% piracy rate long before now?

It's all a sham.

When that vulture Gates announces he's moving overseas, that's when everyone should start to worry.

And not before.

There will be no nukes, no invasion, nothing. One nuke means neighboring countries will respond. And who can live in a radioactive waste? NOBODY. EM pulses aren't entirely predictable either. Even biological warfare would have unintentional consequences on this scale. They dare not risk their lives.

11. What a brilliant post.
I still haven't seen Mars Attacks. It's on my list.

All I can say is- Coolaid. I don't have any explanation for it either. Cool-aid. I think the number of people who truly support Bush is much smaller than one would think. One is one too many.

But today I was on my favorite machine tool forum, and there was a guy trying to get us to buy this HUGE radial drill press. It was in the remaining shell of buildings that housed Niagara tool manufacturing. This was a very large punch press company. A century old company. Now the tools are punching out parts in China. The very same country that has this jerk for a president, is also the same that managed to lose it's grip on manufacturing. We are not alone. There are a lot of places on the planet that are wallowing in muddy politics. It's a planetary phenomenon. I blame it on station wagons. Haha. There is no reason we could still be making machines here. And there is no excuse for a president who belongs in a junior college art class instead of the Oval office.

30. I think you are right... there is a certain percentage
of people that no matter what happens they will support the Shrub and the Neo-Cons. I refuse to go to the freep site but I here they are going batshit hoping to nuke Iran. Anyone who advocates and actually takes joy in the thought of dropping a nuke is too far gone for redemption.

17. I spent about 10 minutes on the phone with my pop's
financial advisor (I inherited him along with the headaches and I'm glad of it) and quite a bit of it was spent listening to him bitch about Stupid.

If money guys are bitching about Stupid, then Stupid is in really big trouble. It means he's losing his base of "have mores." About all he has left are the religiously insane and even some of them are starting to realize he's lying about most of what he says he's about.

27. Hogwash. Most of them HATED Bill Clinton. Probably 5-10% are pro-any Prez
But I'm telling you that among those 35% who are pro Bush right now, 20-25% are tribally Republican, Rush-sucking Hillary haters who identify anything Hannity spews as gospel truth. Others may be emotionally tied to the false sense of security Bush scared them into. Remember that they're out to scare us into sucking down the Iran-as-nuclear-threat malarky now, too.

Iran is certainly a regional competitor and a danger to be contained in case they get nukes, but they're not an imminent threat and the saber-rattling is bogus election pandering. But I think a majority will be able to see thru the shitstorm, as long as we stay active, vocal, and concentrate on a logical, patriotic (no America-bashing) message. The 2006 elections are ours to win or lose.
