US considers use of nuclear weapons against Iran
Edited on Sat Apr-08-06 10:26 AM by cynatnite
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The administration of President George W. Bush is planning a massive bombing campaign against Iran, including use of bunker-buster nuclear bombs to destroy a key Iranian suspected nuclear weapons facility, The New Yorker magazine has reported in its April 17 issue.

The article by investigative journalist Seymour Hersh said that Bush and others in the White House have come to view Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as a potential Adolf Hitler.

"That's the name they're using," the report quoted a former senior intelligence official as saying.

A senior unnamed Pentagon adviser is quoted in the article as saying that "this White House believes that the only way to solve the problem is to change the power structure in Iran, and that means war."

1. So
Does this mean the Iranians have to fight us over here so they don't have to fight us at home? They are after all being threatened with WMD...so isn't this a case where one would use the Bush doctrine of preemptive strike??

2. Hitler analogies
Bush is more like Hitler because Bush has far more power than that asshole in Iran. Ahmadinejad is a racist, sexist prick, but how much power does he really have? And how does he threaten the United States? Otherwise, overthrowing him is the responsibility of the people of his country.

3. Meanwhile China patiently awaits
bush's next incredibly ignorant move. Go ahead republicans, continue to destroy our military infrastructure; and trash our economy as you go. As I hunt and peck, the leaders in China are looking on lovingly at the riches soon to be at their disposal as long as a republican like george bush remains in the white house.

If we hit someone like Korea, China will definitely attack us, and I dont know about winning something like that.

Seriously, Bush has gone too far.

6. I linked this last night in another thread --
it's a very good assessment of Bushco's plan to develop new nukes, from the Alliance for Nuclear Accountability:

7. "some officers have talked about resigning"
"But the former senior intelligence official said the attention given to the nuclear option has created serious misgivings inside the military, and some officers have talked about resigning after an attempt to remove the nuclear option from the evolving war plans in Iran failed, according to the report."

I think the military would revolt against bush. Massive resignations, desertions and refusal to follow orders in this kind of situation.

This whole thing :scared: the shit out of me. For the first time since I've heard 'Iran's next' on DU, I really believe it now.
