3. Oh, Is't that George?
Great photo.

Actually, though, I'd be interested in Buchanan's predictions. I disagree with almost everything he says -- and when we do agree (he's always been against the Iraq war}, it is for very different reasons.

But I'll give this to Pat ... I think he is honest. I'll never forget how he absolutely said that those Jewish voters in Florida 2000 who got the butterfly ballot certainly did not mean to vote for HIM!

And he's been around and seen it all. If he thinks the Abramhoff scandal is going to explode, then it probably is. Likewise, if he sees Bush attacking Iran, then get ready, that may indeed happen.

4. and that butterfly ballot was created by a democrat
but what makes it even more insane is that the congressional democrats have essentially done nothing since 2000 to insure that every vote counts

10. you are right, I am just frustrated that so little has been done about
BBV

Yes, I disagree with buchanans politics, but he is definitely a straight talker, and his book "Where the Right Went Wrong: How Neoconservatives Subverted the Reagan Revolution and Hijacked the Bush Presidency", has some right on points

12. Yes, but I believe that "Democrat" was a Repuke planted by Jeb.
She had previously been a registered Repuke, and was close to the FL fascists that be. At least that is my recollection of what I've heard about her.

17. I read that somewhere also...
I was suspicious as soon as the rethugs started harping the "a dem designed the ballot meme". Turns out she was a rethug not long before the election. How she was able to attain that position to make the ballot appearance is another story I would like to see someone look into.

18. LePore was never a democrat
Except on paper.

LePore was a registered Republican, but then switched her party to Democratic because according to her "when I ran , I chose Democrat because the incumbent was Democrat and the county registration is predominantly Democrat." After the 2000 election, she switched her party registration to No Party Affiliation.

It makes me even more angry, the media was so quick to point out she was a Democrat, when it is NOT accurate. I bet most people do NOT know that. Thank-you for educating me. I will make sure NOT to perpetuate the misinformation

Thank goodness for the internet, DU members, and wikipedia,

Will the world step in? This WILL NOT be the cakewalk that summoned the Mission Accomplished Hallmark moment.

Hey, that gives me an idea... Mission Accomplished birthday and other holiday cards for my freeper associates.

Russia confirms Iran missile deal

Iran's military muscle worries the US and Israel
Russia has confirmed a deal to sell surface-to-air missiles to Iran, insisting they are for defence only.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov said a contract to deliver TOR-M1 missiles to Iran had been signed.

He said the deal "in no way upsets the balance of forces in the region," Russian news agencies reported.

Iran has reportedly agreed to buy 29 of the mobile air defence systems in a contract worth more than $700m (£400m; 600m euros).

6. I agree with your assessment of Buchanan
He's really wacko on behavioral issues, but he says exactly what he thinks and has a streak of populism (concern for the little guy) that you rarely see in the Republican party these days.

He was talking about outsourcing as a drain on American jobs before Ross Perot was.

9. If he is correct about Iran, you can also add that the
draft will be reinstated

If these jerks start bombing Iran, you can be sure that the Shiites in Iraq will be not too happy about their brothers being attacked, and our soldiers will be caught right in the middle hell courtesy the repuke/PNAC party

Some areas will take a hit. However, he’s wrong about the overall economy. Techs will fly high in the coming year.

26. Housing appreciation values
do seem to be regionally based until, kind of like the stock market, critical mass floats all boats. We may have topped out nationally but we may keep regional appreciation in tact.

The oil producing states are cranking right now. Here in Oklahoma, Oklahoma seems to be capturing quite the economical positive forces right now as it's diversification, heavy in medical, gas and oil and military. OK economy is strong right now as is in Texas. Imagine that!

16. Welcome to DU, peanutbrittle
Don't expect a ground war w/ Iran. This time, expect these brainless, gutless goobers to try to accomplish it all from the air a la Kosovo. And when they do, you can expect them to holler that there's no need for "boots on the ground in Iran," contrary to their position for Kosovo.

Any sort of war against Iran also mandates increasing troop strength in Iraq, since the government there is now controlled by factions sympathetic to Iran.

The overt stupidity of this gang of punks is breathtaking to behold.
