..."look, we leaked the info for national security reasons. It was important that the issue get out there to fight the war on terror..." blah, blah, blah. What reasons do Bush and Cheney have for keeping quiet if their leaking of Plame is legal?

And what freaking reason would they have to lie to Fitzgerald?

The only reason I can think of is they KNOW what they did is illegal. IMO, the political angle doesn't fly because how many of these ridiculous stories have they spun away in the past? They could spin the Plame leak, too - except they KNOW what they did was illegal.

What other reason could there be?

1. Bush, himself, said it was criminal at the time that he hired
a criminal lawyer.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bush explained his action by saying, "This is a criminal matter. It's a serious matter," but he gave no further specifics. White House officials, too, would not say exactly what prompted Bush to seek the outside advice, or whether he had been asked to appear before the grand jury.

7. Yes, I suppose it ought to be.
I asked the name of the criminal lawyer Bush hired way back when this started. Chill Wind responded with the information and the quote about this being criminal. Ever since then, I've been posting it in every thread pertaining to this subject.

Feel free to start a thread. Give Chill Wind credit for having provided this information.

2. They are such
crooked fucking bastards, I can't believe it. They better crash and burn for this. If they get away with this, I think I will move to Toronto. The only reason I haven't to tihs point is that both my career and my wife's would need additional schooling before we could get rolling (I am a high school teacher, she a lawyer).

3. The mere fact that they sat on it all this time
tells me they knew it was illegal.

5. Of course they know.. what difference does it make
they have done a bunch of illegal, immoral and just plain nasty things. Not only that but they flaunt their supreme power and rub our noses in it. I've said it before and I'll say it again, only 3 things can get rid of Bush, a sex scandal, the end of his term ot outright revolution.

8. It didn't happen the way it's shaping up.
If Bush wanted to declassify something, he doesn't tell Cheney to do it via Libby. That's laughable.

It seems that the neo-cons are positioning themselves for a fight against the Bushes.
