6. Better yet, can she spew the lies from the right wing...
...in a perky, believable manner

Couric: "Mr Dean, what do you say about those democrats who received money from Jack Abramoff?"

Dean: "No democrat has received money from Jack Abramoff"

Couric: "Yes but what do you say about those democrats who received money from Jack Abramoff?"

She's great on "Millionaire".

It's a big step for her to take over from Katie on "Today".

13. War Protest
I don't know how she'll do but I respect her because Meridith, her husband and
teen aged daughter marched in a protest against the Iraq war. That makes her OK
in my book. I hope she does very well in her new job.

back in 2000 she was a Bush supporter. I remember her saying it more than once on the "The View".. I hated her for that back then.

38. i don't know what she says these days
but back in 2000 she supported and voted for Bush. Her and Star Jones would argue between Gore and Bush all the time. I remember Barbara Walters would never admit who she was for since she was more of the serious-journalist-type. The odd thing is, if I remember correctly, one of her biggest issues was with defense, and she stood with Republicans on defense. i'm kind of surprised she is against the Iraq war, but i guess anyone can change, and of course her change has been for the better!

21. He's not well
He's practically totally blind and in the picture of them in the protest, he was
holding onto her arm for support. It was very touching. I really don't know if
she's a Bush supporter but she spoke out very strongly against the war.

23. I find this whole thing so weird.
Meredith used to work on '60 Minutes' and then she went into fluff TV such as 'The View'. Now she is taking over Katie's old job and Katie will be sort of moving into Meredith's old job of doing segments on '60 Minutes' along with the evening news anchor position.

Up is down and black is white. Meredith is qualified but she is so much better. After her experience perhaps she should be the one moving into the evening news anchor position.

32. She's very attractive. That's the important thing for The Today Show.
Edited on Thu Apr-06-06 04:21 PM by jmowreader
And no, I'm not trying to be offensive; please don't be offended.

Most people are not politics junkies. They don't want to turn on their televisions and hear the "Top Ten Bush Administration Atrocities Since 7AM." They want a little bit of news, the weather and some pleasant banter from attractive people so their day gets off to a good start.

This is what they're hiring Meredith for, and she should do okay in it.

Besides, Bush Administration Atrocities are best taken at 7pm...which is enough time to go home, wash off the workday dirt and have three or four strong drinks so you won't start screaming too loudly.

You say you want Bush Administration Atrocities with your cornflakes? Do what I do and eat next to the computer.

On edit: My Italian grandmother always hated it when people named their daughters Meredith. She said it was way too close to "merde."
