Repug criticizes Dem's choice of cancer treatment for his daughter
Democrat Joe Sestak has a four year old daughter with brain cancer. He is also running for Congress. His opponent, Curt Weldon (R-PA), apparently smelling a campaign issue, has criticized the Sestaks for having their child treated at Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C.

It's now manifestly obvious. There is absolutely no depth to which these soul-sucking, sub-human bastards who go by the name "Republican" will not sink.

7. I just don't understand how the Repugs continually ...
get away with saying the most outrageous and slanderous and just plain stupid and cruel things and they don't seem to ever take any real heat for it. I guess it's because of that darned "liburl" media or something. These people are just the lowest.

8. I can't imagine how this can't backfire.
Sure, there are the base who would support him if he killed the Dem candidate's child with his own two hands.

But for the great middle, I can't see how he can gain support based on this.

10. Ok, Pennsylvanians...will Weldon's going negative work?
Just curious because you guys know your local politics best. It sounds like Weldon's desperate to find something...not to mention despicable.

Will it turn off voters for Weldon to go this route?

I'd probably punch the motherfucker if I saw him. You do NOT fuck with family, especially a 4 year old daughter with cancer!

13. I had the same response, but I AM sure why.
Anyone who would exploit the life-threatening medical condition of a 4 year old girl for political expediency deserves everything they get. I'll tell you what ... I'll hold him and you kick him in the balls. Then we'll switch back and forth until one of us gets tired.

12. It is not the Repig's business where the child is treated.
Weldon needs to either run on issues or keep his yap closed.

14. See, Curt is exactly the kind of person who'd do that...
Move his sick kid around for political reasons. And he's the product of a powerful Republican machine that's always protected him.

Joe Sestak is the strongest candidate ever to run against Curt. Good luck to him, he deserves our support.

17. Sestak's response is excellent...
""I believe these medical choices should be left in the hands of parents and family members throughout the country and not in the hands of bureaucrats, special interests and especially not in the hands of politicians like Curt Weldon," Sestak said."

Hmm, bureaucrats and politicians staying out of medical decisions, what a novel concept.

Sid

18. I for one will be DELIGHTED to vote for Sestak
Saw him speak at a recent committee meeting - very impressive credentials, clear leadership ability, cuts a fine figure.

The repigs are trying to "Santorum" him, but it's not quite the same, since he isn't an elected rep yet, is it? And he's not bilking the taxpayers of his district for his kid's pricey online schooling. About time we put someone like him up for office.

GO JOE

20. And he'd not being a good Pennsylvanian by sending his medical
care money out of state?

That's Weldon's premise?

Since when is it a crime to take a minor across state lines for medicinal purposes?

21. As a former Pennsylvanian, I would say that I would be embarassed
to be "represented" by the likes of Weldon and Santorum . . .

but then, I'm out here in Ohio . . . and I'm represented by "Fly, Goddammit, I don't care about your pilot's license" Voinovich and, indirectly, Jean "Marines don't cut and run" Shit, er, Schmidt . . .

Actually, I am currently represented by Sherrod Brown, and, hopefully, a Dem governor, Brown as Senator, and a whole slew of Dems in general come 1/3/2007 . . .
