Fox at the Bank
Horrified to discover that my bank had installed a gigantic TV screen on the wall behind the tellers and that it was tuned to Fox.

A young man named Dennis helped me and I immediately asked whose decision it was to have a TV and to have Fox channel on. I told him that I was offended and that I consider Fox to be a vitriolic and hateful propoganda machine for Bush. He said he thought it was the regional manager's decision and he could get me that address. He left the little cube we were in.

A woman came in and asked if I did not like her TV. I blasted away as to how much I hated it, that I don't have to put up with that, asked if it 1984 or what, and told her that if that TV is on Fox channel the next time I come into that bank, I will close my account.

She apologized that I was so upset, heard me out, acknowledged my pin (Peace symbol) and said that she remembered them (from the 60's), and shook my hand. She was very nice and I got the idea that she liked my pin.

Dennis returned and I got my business done. I was there to find out why I was being charged every month for a savings account. After all the above transpired, I told him that I wanted my savings consolidated into checking. That way, if I have to make good on my word, I can withdraw every last nickel, easily.

The woman stuck her head back into Dennis' cube and asked, "How about a baseball game?" I told her that would be fine, anything but Fox channel.

A few minutes later, Dennis pointed to the wall behind the tellers. (He could see through the glass behind me.)A baseball game! Yes! I was so happy.

When I left Dennis' cube, I told him to enjoy the game. He smiled and said, "I will." I think he was very appreciative of what I did.

Could not wait to share with me friends at DU.

7. As soon as I left, probably
I told Dennis that they will probably hire a watchman to watch for me so they can change it again back from Fox.

I'll enjoy my little victory today, anyway.

5. McDonald's too
It's in a crummy small town, but I ask to turn it every time. Don't know why they think people want to listen to the communist channel.

6. They have Fox "News" at all the airport terminals now, too
What a way to greet foreign visitors.

Bill O'Reilly saying, "Welcome to America, towelheads."

10. Complain
Being drunk with power now, I have decided that I am going to complain every time I see that. Little victories are important; they can grow and multiply.

8. My compliments
It happened to me the other day at the local gym . I was on the treadmill walking , and they have TVs up in front to watch. This older guy came in, got on a treadmill beside me and switched the channel to Fox. I looked over at him and said "I was watching that"..and he looked at me kinda shitty and switched it back. He then put his treadmill on about 7 miles an hour and burnt out in five minutes trying to show up the younger guy who was walkin next to him. I laughed at he took his chubby ass off the treadmill and went to the machines , and assaulted them like a madman. He looked really stupid to everyone there. Theres one in every crowd.

13. This Thai restaurant near me used to have Fox News on...

and then one night I went there and asked if they could switch to MSNBC.

Now, whenever I go there between 8 and 9 PM, they have Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

I've got them hooked on that show now.

So here is my plan:

Make it a point, at least once a week, to go to a public place with a television and ask them to put on Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Maybe I'll take the wife and kid to Bickford's this week and try it.

If only I could get away with adding The Foxblocker to other people's televisions...

14. WHY IS TV ON IN THE FIRST PLACE??
I can understand why a tv is not unusual in a break room or avaliable in case of an important news item (WTC comes to mind)....but for the day-to-day conducting of business, we do NOT need tv..When I worked, we could not even listen to a radio..

I would not want my employees "watching TV" while they worked..
