Timmy Russert looked a bit shaken...
The MSM and their fans have been butt-f*****d by the pros like Zinni and his 'fellow-travelers' (sic) coming forth and levelling the apologists for the pro-war crowd. Gee, it's hard to argue with a sane, brilliant man, isn't it Timmy? Hard to question the TRUTH when it is profferred before you and the Administration's 'folks' sound more and more like the Marx Brothers?

Gee, what a tangled web...and the 'funny' (sic) and (sick) part is that the Titanic IS SINKING, and no amount of John Williams' music is gonna make this any better or any easier to take. You know, that great symphonic presentation that NBC and Steven Spielberg (both fiction-producing enterprises) use to make it appear that God is present on the network/film.

It all fits like socks on a rooster...

2. Yes...but
my point is at the end of the show, he clearly is beginning to realize that his hostile position all these years towards right-thinking individuals was grotesquely misplaced...

He's watching the house of cards collapse right before his eyes and the media will eventually be 'indicted' for complicity in this entire insanity we have witnessed since election night, 2000.

14. But in the Soviet Union, everybody knew it was all propaganda.
Here, sadly, a whole lotta meatheads still think they're getting the TRUTH.

4. Pumpkinhead did ask a bunch of tough questions
And McCain stuttered, stammered and skittered away from all of them, retreating over and over again to comforting bullshit such as "Saddam was a threat," "The invasion went well in the beginning" and "We can't leave now, other nations would laugh at us." And Timmeh let him off the hook completely during that discussion.

5. Yes he did to his 'credit'
Again, my point is that you can see the emotionality on the face of many of these correspondents...they are guilty of complicity in the greatest hoax of all time, eclipsing the events of 1963....

8. Except . . .
I'm coming to the conclusion that this backfilling is merely for the sake of saying later "See? We were asking tough questions!" For every tough question that Russert poses and then lets go unanswered, he lobs a dozen softballs and in every case (both toughies and lobs) just lets the war apologists run on and on with their talking points, unchallenged.

I'm watching the Zinni segment now, and Russert has gone back to some of Zinni's comments -- which are absolutely spot on -- and is challenging Zinni for being so right. I didn't see anything of that kind of adversarial follow-up posed to McCain.

9. Timmy's afraid of McCain...
and they know he's not well. A powerful combination...

Note that on many pudit programs, they say (some people say...) " If McCain's health holds out..." they know something they're not saying...

17. It is good, that they are coming around to the truth.
Of course we will be distrustful, and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

What is important is that the truth is prevailing. The ones who follow fashion will be known, and so will those who were deceived will have to bear the cost of their short comings. Those who consistently stood for the truth will only grow in stature.

3. Zinni was blunt and honest
Discussed the WMD claims prior to the war, and he went to intel people and said where is evidence for this and they were silent.

6. Actually I thought Tim did great with both the toad McCain and the valiant
Gen. Zinni. He tore McCain apart and Allowed Zinni to talk unfettered and in fact, showed a very important must see clip of Cheney (at an event honoring Zinni) beatng the war drums, and an interview with Zinni at the time, saying that he saw no case for war. It was Fantastic!

story about the Chinese getting a no-bid contract to scan cargo for WMDs and also the new pre-war memo story.

12. Don't know if you watched Tim Russert with Al Franken yesterday.
Tim tried to corner him on his book and some of his statements (selected with no previous contex only the statement). Franken did not let go, and pointed out the contex, and wanted Tim to put up the entire statement WITH the contex. Al read it right on when Tim gave him the book. THEN, Al spoke of ALL the lies the Administration has presented over the last 5 years...one by one...Tim had to really listen, and was virtually speechless. It was a site to behold. Tim Russert listened to Al, and I believe his eyes were opened. NOW with Zinni on, I think these guys are getting it and JUST maybe we will see the media doing their jobs. OR with all these knowledgable people speaking out, they are going to look like FOOLS.

Edited on Sun Apr-02-06 11:36 AM by Jackpine Radical
have known all along just what they're doing. They're about as culpable as Leni Reifenstuhl. Maybe moreso; for all I know, Leni may have been a total Luftkopf.

18. Tim Russert DID NOT listen to Al Franken...it was all about "gotcha"
Russert was pissed that Franken wrote in his new book that Russert was "gullable," and you could tell his questioning was motivated my personal animus towards Franken. I don't see where you perceived the Russert/Franken interview as an epiphany for Russert. Didn't you observe when Franken tried to read the quote in full context that Russert cut quickly to a commerical and killed Franken's audio? As the camera panned back, you could see Franken reading the quote from his book.

Also, Russert pulled a bullshit "gotcha" quote move in which he read off a list of quotes about Saddam and WMD leading Franken to believe that all the quotes were from the Chimp Administration. He then sprang it on Franken that the last quote was from Hillary. This "gotcha" maneuver is a hallmark of Sean Hannity's modus operandi.

16. Forgive my cynicism, too
But, as I have mentioned before, my dad was one of the most respected journalists in Washington,
and he never would have stood for this crap. Indeed, he wrote in 1998 about the DC press corps
had suddenly lost their collective hear up their collective ass for focusing on Monica instead
of the issues really affecting the country and the world.

He knew Russert from before he was a TV talking head. Russert worked in Pat Moynihan's shop
when Moynihan was Senator, and is a strict, devout Catholic who was furious at Clinton's
adultery to the extent that he was blinded to everything else. Russert has not lost this
divine indignation, and it has spilled over into his being a tool of the right now.

These guys ALL get heat from above if some big sponsors of shareholders hear something they
don't like. That is normal, maybe, but they don't all have to melt so damned fast, do they?

19. Funny,
you can commit the sins of lying in extremis, torture, and who knows what-all else, but adultery! Ouch, that really hurts!

Wonder what his history is w/ respect to that issue. It's not unusual to see a certain amount of projection with these sanctimonious types.
