Anyone read the Statistical Index on Iraq from the Brookings Institute
This is an absolutely fascinating document. It simply lists what is going on in Iraq by the numbers. I saw a recommendation on this on Sen. Lugar's web page and clicked through.

I think there is a lot of info in here that refutes a lot of what Bush and Cheney are saying.

Check it out:

2. How about that "Coalition of the Willing" (sort of) K&R
There are seven times as many US troops as coalition troops in
Iraq

TOP NON-US COALITION CONTRIBUTORS OF MILITARY PERSONNEL IN
IRAQ

41 Coalition Countries

Country Personnel As of:
United Kingdom 8,000 February 28, 2006
South Korea 3,200 January 11, 2006
Italy 2,600 January 20, 2006
Poland 1,400 January 3,2006
Australia 900 January 20, 2006
Romania 860 January 23, 2006
Japan 600 December7,2005
Georgia 558 September 10,2005
Denmark 530 March 23, 2006
Other 1,850 Current

What a lousy deal we've got.

The Iraqi people want us to go home at about 70-80% in several
polls.

Why doesn't their elected government make the request?

Is it democracy yet?

5. It really does.
Sen. Lugar tells all the Senate Foreign Relations Committee people to read this stuff.

Statistical abstracts are interesting anyway in a random sort of way. The one for Iraq does show some improvement in some areas of the country. But, there is nothing for this Admin to write home about, they are not stemming the insurgency and it most definitely is not in it's 'last throes.'

7. From the chart at the top of page 19:
Insurgent attacks, car bombs and roadside bombs have doubled, and suicide car bombs have quadrupled.

Bush cites progress. Yes, Iraq is getting progressively worse.

8. Great read, thanks for posting
I found the Iraqi poll results to be especially interesting. You can really see there the stark division between Sunnis and Shiites in terms of their opinion of the war and where they see the country headed.
