Has any 'News' media spoken to the 'Indian Tribes' re: Abramoff?
Don't the Indian Tribes have a voice in this? Who are the tribal leaders that gave money to Abramoff and what were they promised? Where did they think the money was going? What was the quid pro quo? Any reporters asking these questions?

1. 60 Minutes exposed this story a couple of years ago.
The tribal leaders were speaking on camera about how they were defrauded by Abramoff.

4. Have you ever noticed how rarely MSM EVER talks to tribes?
As other minorities increasingly gain a "voice" and begin to gain their rightful influence in American discourse, Native Americans have always been left behind and contine to be overtly discriminated against (I'm talking the poorer SW tribes, (e.g., South Dakota) not the wealthy East Coast gambling casino-enabled)

It is a continuing scandal and one that underscores the hypocracy of US "democratic" ideals.

6. CBS did a piece on the national news last night
In Texas, Abramoff had taken money from one tribe to get another tribe's casino shut down, then collected from the other tribe to get the casino re-opened. They talked with the tribal leader whose casinos were shut down.

I mentioned to my g/f "Jeeze, will them Indians never learn you can't trust a white man?"

I'll see if I can find a link.

7. A few nights ago they had a tribal leader testifying at the Abramoff
Edited on Sun Jan-08-06 12:29 PM by acmavm
hearings that were televised on CNN. I cannot spell the name of the tribe.

The horribly insulting a demeaning e-mails from the Abramoff crew were being read. The tribal dude had no clue what was going on. His tribe had been taken big time. He had no clue what/who the money really went to.

I was appalled. And I'm also appalled at myself that I cannot remember the Indian leader's name and don't have the faintest idea how to spell the name of his tribe.

edit: The Coushatta tribe.
