President Bush should be censured?

Send your answer here: http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5t.html

It's the 4-5PM question, for those who read this later.

2. Its hard to see how Sen Graham can say he wants the Prez
to follow his proposed law giving NSA 45 days to wiretap before they get warrants from the FISA court, but doesn't think it's against the law that the Prez didn't get the same warrants from FISA when they had to do it within 72 hours of starting surveillance. If this is the type of logic commonly used on Capitol Hill, no wonder everything is screwed up. It's like the only thing Congressman know how to do any more is raise funds for the next election.

maybe that'll be snarky enough but with truth for Jack to read!

12. I agree. Partisanship, particularly under this president,
is more important. Graham is troubled by this but he won't speak against this president or his party. He, of all people, must remember the atmosphere when he led the rightwing attack on Clinton. I hope he's privately registering his concerns.

nixon was not impeached as he stated, and Dean was put in the witness protection program..he was not convicted of
anything..he was the truth teller during the nixon hearings!

Graham needs to be gangster slapped...he is an ignorant snot!

28. you're VERY wrong about Dean. he spent several years in prison
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 07:48 PM by Gabi Hayes
he wrote a book about it, which I read, called Blind Ambition

it's a wonderful book, unsparing of himself and everyone who did wrong in the Nixon administration

witness protection program? where'd you get that?

other than that, I agree wholeheartedly with everything else you said

29. no excuse me you are incorrect please look at the facts..
http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/04/06/1354218

AMY GOODMAN: This is Democracy Now!, the exception to the rulers. I'm Amy Goodman. As we continue our conversation with former White House counsel, John Dean, who has written a book called, "Worse Than Watergate," something that brought him down as well. He served 127 days in prison for obstruction of justice.

JOHN DEAN: Technically, let me correct you. I really never did go to prison. I was 127 days in the custody of the U.S. Marshalls because I was in the Witness Protection Program. The government was very concerned about keeping me alive. I really have not let that get corrected over the years. It's out there on the web. It's on different sites.

AMY GOODMAN: Weren't you in prison?

JOHN DEAN: I was not in prison.

AMY GOODMAN: Weren't you in jail?

JOHN DEAN: I was not in jail.

snip:

JOHN DEAN: I was in custody and would stay in a safe house at night. I spent most of that time in the U.S. -- excuse me, in the Watergate Special Prosecutor’s office. I was driven to the office every day from the safe house. I was actually during the time that the trials were going on, I was in the courthouse in the prosecutor's office.

AMY GOODMAN: Wasn't it a sentence?

JOHN DEAN: It was part of a sentence -- well, yes. It became the sentence, the judge after -- had sentenced me just before the trial started, and after 127 days later, said time served.

AMY GOODMAN: And that time you had served in the prosecutor's office?

JOHN DEAN: More or less.

AMY GOODMAN: You never served a night in any kind of detention facility?

JOHN DEAN: Well in a safe house, yes.

snip:

JOHN DEAN: There were other government witnesses in that facility, yes. My next door neighbor happened to be former mafia hit man who once told me, you know, John, I always liked Richard Nixon until I realized he wasn't a very good criminal.

AMY GOODMAN: Is that place still a house of detention?

*****JOHN DEAN: I don't know. They don't -- they don't advertise it. It's part of the witness protection program. Well – Anyway, a technical point that I just thought I would clear up.

*************john dean was in a witness protection facility!! not a prison!!

30. actually he tried to correct Graham in his testimony at the censure
hearing but graham rudely talked over him..or all but yelled over him as he did not want anyone to hear what dean was about to say.lwhich was to correct graham..or slap him down..you can audibly barely hear it on bradblogs video capture of the hearing..

and Randi Rhodes told about it as well and said graham lied ..do check it out in the archives on white rose society..

just a friendly fyi...

but honestly this falsehood should be nipped in the bud..John Dean was in a witness protection program to save his life for testifying..

33. you're right about the place he served, where, and how long, but
he was sentenced for obstruction of justice: one to four years
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Dean

I was, uh, VERY WRONG in my assertion, but, as happened so often during this junta, I'm looking for someone to blame the apparent inaccuracy of whatever got typed onto this site, somehow, possibly, from my own computer! how could that have happened?

I'll be looking into an investigation of this, concurrent with the opening of the Sen. Intel Committee's Phase II

thanks for the HU, flyarm

A number of former presidential GOP advisors have been critizing Bush. It means the current administration is worse than Nixon & that Bush should resign.

6. To me it means that we no longer have a Congress of integrity and character
and will come down on where the polls are or where their president is or where their politician buddies are at on any given issue. Most of the people in congress have no similarities to the founding fathers' of this country.

No one in their right mind could possibly believe that the Executive Branch has the power President Bush claims, especially when we are in an eternal war with a noun (terrorism). John Dean's backing of Censure makes this abundantly clear.

15. Mine was sarcastic...
Mr. Dean doesn't get it: The role of the Senate is to PROTECT the president -- not oversight to check the president's misconduct. Geesh, haven't we learned that by now?

These hearings are simply windowdressing & aren't meant to be constructive.

I wrote, "Considering both Houses of Congress are controlled by Republicans who march lockstep with this administration, it basically means that America, our Constitution, and ordinary citizens are f**cked."

I apologized for the profanity, but told him that I was a bit upset after watching our democracy die in those hearings today.

in holding Bush accountable and one said that this was a stunt. But, that's just my Friday afternoon memory.

GOP controlled, John Dean's testimony is the one that is getting the scroll on CNN for all to see! That Bush exceeds Nixon in wrong doing!
