Why is Blitzer in Israel this Sunday?
I thought Sharon was improving and it is just a matter of seeing how much brain damage he suffered. He would live but not be able to govern. Why does that merit a location broadcast?

2. This is a major story.
And the prognosis for Sharon is understood to be very grim.

3. It's grim only in reference to his cognitive abilities, but
we will probably survive. I guess Wolf is there to see if Sharon still knows who he is. Either way, he will no longer be involved in anything governmental.

12. Yes, his vital signs are said to be strong.
But his cognitive abilities are very much in doubt. I hope he can regain consciousness, but you're right, he won't be in government any longer.

18. missing white girls are a side-effect of conservative politics
hatred of beauty and purity, repression of sexuality, and an encouragement to turn anything and everything including sex into a consumable commodity. See a pattern ? Some people overeat, others make and spend too much money, others...

5. The buzzards always circle........
when death is imminent. Although Sharon is said to be improving Leslie doesn't want to take a chance of missing a big story. As always, death sells. The Corporate media smells cash in death.

6. Necrojournalism
If it bleeds, it leads. Wolf wants to be one of the shomerim. He wants to televise the kaddish. He wants to sit shiva. I doubt he'll do keriyah - at least not live.

I don't know if they're more amused at the goyem mangling the Hebrew terms or the political overtones.

28. I'm not Jewish, but I found this to be hysterical! ROFL!!!
Somehow, imagining Wolf like this just sent me over the edge, LOL! Maybe it's because he tries to sound so serious, but I know that he's spouting such crap, so often. And I also imagined him, thanks to your comment, sporting a yarmulke, which is totally unimaginable! He has little sympathy for anyone here, more's the pity. Thanks for this, since Wolf is always amusing, whenever he's imagined as other than the benighted sobersides that he seems to be.:applause::bounce:

8. He no doubt went there assuming that Sharon would die.
If that had happened, it would have been the first story for the MSM, probably continuous coverage, and Wolf would have been right on the scene. And think what a relief that it would have been for the media to have an excuse to quit reporting on Tom DeLay, the surveillance scandal, and the horrific number of deaths in Iraq this weekend!!!:grr:

19. Of course Ted Blitzer looks annoyed.
How would you feel if you had to get excited about reporting on the future possibility of bird flu or yet another blonde woman gone missing, when there are real stories, affecting the future of this country and the world, going unreported?! I'd think he'd be more cheerful, being out of the country, because he knows he won't be expected to utter the words "Iraq" or "DeLay" anytime soon. Or do you think he really doesn't get it and has contracted crankiness from his recent association with Jack Cafferty?!:D

"Can we film the operation, is the head dead yet? You know the boys in the newsroom have got a running bet..." That pretty much sums it up. Wolfie a vulture.

21. Maybe He Misses Being Called Ze'ev Blitzer
Or in either case, Sharon wil not be in any condition to run Israel anymore, so the change in leaddership will be a huge story

24. Media thought he would die so they had to get someone there & Blitzer used
to report for Jerusalem times early on in his career. He probably has many friends there and Jewish funerals mean one has to be buried within one day, I believe. So, just in case it made sense. CNN has always given alot of coverage to what goes on in Israel. They kinda like BeBe Netanyahu. He's a hardliner in the PNAC tradition.
