Sensenbrenner challenger Kennedy says Immigration System in Crisis
Bryan Kennedy said today that he believes that the immigration issue needs to be addressed, and that Senator John McCain’s approach to strengthening the border and setting up a guest worker program is a “realistic” approach to an extremely sensitive issue.

In the past week, many people have taken to the streets around the nation in opposition to a proposal from Kennedy’s opponent, Rep. F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. Last Thursday over 10,000 people marched against Sensenbrenner’s legislation in Milwaukee. This past Saturday, over 200 people protested at Sensenbrenner’s town hall meeting in Waukesha.

Kennedy stressed that his plan for reforming immigration is about strengthening families and making it easier for workers to follow the law. Kennedy supports:

Allowing immigrants to earn permanent residency when they have been working hard and paying taxes in America.

Focusing on family-friendly immigration policies to make sure that we are not tearing families apart when they try to move to the United States.

Strengthening our borders to make sure that people aren’t crossing the border illegally.

“Real immigration reform doesn’t make criminals out of pastors and social workers, who are helping people in need,” said Kennedy. He continued, “Sensenbrenner’s plan is extremely costly to taxpayers and businesses, rips apart families, and turns our religious leaders into felons. Sensenbrenner’s proposal does not reflect the values of the American people. We can, and must, do better than what Sensenbrenner has put forth.”

If you agree support Kennedy for Congress in Wisconsin's 5th district!
