1. I've been wondering who is behind the protests.
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 03:17 PM by notadmblnd
That was organized rather quickly don't you think? I know I had my :tinfoilhat: on extra tight yesterday. During the protests, I was hoping that there would be no excuse for the authorities to round them up and place them in the internment camps Halliiburton has been crontracted to build for the admin.

So glad I didn't hear any reports of violence or arrests.

6. Yes, but for the 12 million undocumented, this is not a distraction
It's the most important issue they could possibly face. A law that makes them wanted felons simply for being here is a grave threat. Try to put yourself in their shoes.

The Democratic Party has to take the initiative with a comprehensive program to reward jobs creation and heavily penalize companies that outsource, even if that means a scrapping of the WTO and the reintroduction of tariffs to enforce new domestic content laws.

H-1B visa increase advances
WOULD ALLOW MORE FOREIGN WORKERS IN U.S.
By Jim Puzzanghera
Mercury News Washington Bureau

Tech Firms:
"High-tech companies say they need more H-1B visas because the improving economy has made it difficult for them to find enough qualified Americans in fields such as math and engineering.
Hopefully the pendulum is kind of swinging toward the understanding that these are the workers we want in the U.S. and want to keep in the U.S.,'' said Kara Calvert, director of government relations for the Information Technology Industry Council, a trade group representing leading tech firms."

American high-tech workers:
"But some high-tech workers argue that no increase is needed. They say that companies prefer less expensive foreigners to Americans and that part of the reason high-tech employment has improved the past two years is because the annual allotment of H-1B visas has gone down."

8. No, I think immigration will be used exactly as 'gay marriage' was used--
to provide an illusory 'talking point' with which to cover up the Diebold/ES&S theft of the '06 by-elections--and to continue hiding the truth about our election system, that two rightwing Bushite corporations now control nearly all vote 'tabulation' in the country using 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code, with virtually no audit/recount controls, in an election system designed by the two biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney, by means of a $4 billion electronic voting boondoggle called the "Help America Vote Act."

In 2004, we heard a lot about 'gay marriage' and NOT ONE WORD about WHO was 'tabulating' the votes behind a veil of secrecy. In 2006, we will hear a lot about how the Bushites 'turned things around' with the 'immigration issue,' but will continue to hear NOT ONE WORD about Bushite corporations 'counting' the votes with secret formulae that no one--not even our secretaries of state--are permitted to review.

As for the immigrants and Latin Americans and others who are protesting fascist Bushite immigration policy, I think they are doing what Latin Americans have been doing very well these days, in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia, Peru and now in Mexico: that is, organize huge peoples' movements to influence government policy toward peace and justice, and elect governments of the people, by the people and for the people.

They seem to think it's the right of the people to take to the streets to express their will, and to petition the government. Such strange behavior. And they've taken it much further in Latin American countries--by electing leftist governments throughout the hemisphere, after a decade of hard work on grass roots community organization and TRANSPARENT elections (US voters, take note!).

Strange--and wonderful. Imagine...democracy.

on the notion that the protests are a fascist conspiracy. The protests are not, but the Bush policy that prompted them IS--it is a conspiracy to cover up the theft of the '06 elections, and to limit the growth of brown-faced voters, especially in California, which the Bushites are determined to turn into a "red" state. Recently, they got rid of our elected Democratic Sec of State Kevin Shelley, who had sued Diebold and de-certified the worst of their election theft machines prior to the 2004 election, and installed Schwarzenegger appointee, Republican Bruce McPherson, who proceeded to ILLEGALLY re-certify Diebold. The fix is in, and the 'immigration' issue is the key to it.

Hopeful signs - latest news:
