I'm waiting for this, the republicans are so against the minimum wage being higher, I'm sure they would just love it if the minimum wage were lowered! That way, all the execs and other top dogs could get even more profit for the bottomline and their already huge salaries could go even higher.

come on all you republican leaders, have some guts and do what you all would like, propose a LOWER minimum wage! Maybe $2 an hour.

1. They do, every once in a while, but only for
"students," code word for anybody under 21. Why the hell they think anybody that age doesn't need enough money to live on if they work full time is beyond me. Why the hell they don't think real students aren't desperate for money to defray college costs is beyond me.

But then, most of what they think and do is beyond me. Thank goodness.

2. The Dems can dovetail it into the Repubs' immigration "crisis"
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 02:03 PM by rocknation
If George is insisting on a guest worker program, the Dems should push for both a minimum wage increase AND a guarantee that even guest workers can earn it. I'll bet that would make George's cheap labor business cronies happy!

6. What, you mean instead of
eliminating the concept of "minimum wage" entirely? Like they always are trying?

It would be political suicide for them to CUT minimum wage . . . and they have full control over the bodies which would enable this . . .

7. They are not trying to lower it, they are trying to ABOLISH it
in the name of absolute market economy. In Louisiana, at a "town hall" type meeting, we pushed and pushed one of our GOP lawmakers, until he finally admitted that he is in favor of abolishing minimum wage....and, I've seen it as a "goal" on many of the RW blog sites.

8. They want it abolished
Just out of curiosity, I took an economics class in college. The professor was trying to explain how beneficial it is to not have a minimum wage. It is a wonder I passed that class.
