There are pigs flying outside my window.

I am in complete shock and awe. A Republican is, of course, responsible for both the flying pigs and my state of mind.

We all love those "hell-has-frozen-over-cuz-my-bootlicking-Freeper-buddy-now-hates-**-stories, and here's another one.

I ventured across the mountain to visit a Dem friend last night. Catching up, we began conversing about a seedy Repuke we both know (and mistrust.)
I hadn't seen this gal for ages, since before November '04. Recently we met out in town, however. I wondered how I would deal with her if I ran into her again and it turns out I was cordial and did not discuss **.

"Did you talk to her at all about our president?" my friend asked, seething as he uttered the word "president."

"Hell, no!" I said. You know how she and I have gone around and around about politics."

I decided a long time ago, for the sake of my kids, to avoid discussing politics with this woman. She was the most Repuke, Bush-loving idiot I knew, but our kids liked each other so I dealt with it.

Still, her dad has called me a baby-killer, a wicked liberal, every name you can imagine. These were hardline Repukes, and I say this without a smidge of my customary exaggeration.

My Dem friend just stared off, looking pissed. I assumed he'd gotten into a heated argument with her.

"She still loves him, right?" I asked. "I was afraid to bring the subject up at all, know what I mean?"

"Well, I threw it right out of the box when I saw her, " he said. "She was bitching about the economy and I brought up 'that president you HAD to vote for, that fucker you Republicans just HAD to have in office' and she let loose on Bush. She said she hated that *7$%#^ ^%$&!@ and that he was an embarrassment and that she was sorrier than hell she had voted for him."

"No way," I said. My mouth was hanging open. For a minute I figured this was all an elaborate leadup to a bad joke, because this friend is known for his skill weaving an excellent story only to deliver a corny but amusing punchline.

He assured me her attitude was no joke.

:wow:

There is no way this woman hates bush. Some of you have seen conversions like this, but I've never seen a die-hard Koolaid drinker lose her taste for the beverage.

Like I said, pigs are flying outside my window.

5. Glad to be able to, texpatriot2004
I wondered why she said nothing when she saw my Anti-Bushmobile.

I expected at least a crack at my bumperstickers. I took her silence for just sucking up and dealing the same as I was doing at the moment....

I'm still too in shock to celebrate!

4. It took a category 5 hurricane to blow down 6yr wall of media protection
surrounding Bush.

Sadder still, that most corporate media has been trying to rebuild that wall.

6. Oh, yes
They get a bumpersticker on my ride, too:

"Corporate Media: WEAPON OF MASS DISTRACTION."

My daughter got it for me at Bonnaroo last year. :bounce:

11. Now I can't wait to meet up with her again.
I want to hear all of the juicy details of her conversion.

The last time we had any debate about politics, it was over the phone and I was discussing the then-fledgling attempts at getting more liberal radio on the air. She got so pissed even at the CONCEPT of liberal talk radio.

Well, I was a liberal talk show host once upon a time when there was a Fairness Doctrine so her comments flew all over me. She repeated the lies that "liberal radio died on its own" and "has no audience" and we proceeded to trade angry words.

We both decided after that to just leave politics out of our association.

I wonder what set her over the edge....

10. I believe there is hope for everyone...My next door neighbor is a decent
person who'd give you the shirt off his back but has supported Bush because he really appreciated the tax credit (he's retired and quite well off). Last week, he returned from a visit to the VA hospital furious at the cuts that had been made and the services that are no longer available. When I mentioned that HIS spresident needed the money to pour down his rathole in Iraq, my neighbor said in no uncertain terms that he now realizes how wrong he was about Bush. Its too late to matter much, but it made me feel good.

Pigs are indeed starting to fly...

Come on folks-one more vote and this thread makes the Greatest Page.

Says he will vote for any Democrat that is opposed to the war. Admits he was flat wrong. Embarassed to have voted for *. Apologizing. First time we have EVER discussed politics. Oh. My. God.

20. Weird feeling, isn't it?
When these folks turn around, it is gratifying but also shocking.

If the diehard supporters are beginning to hate ** as much as we do, maybe our dreams will come true.

15. The BIG question is if this * hatred transfers to the Party
I figure these folks will just start drinking the Koolaid again when a new "leader" is chosen, especially they are an anointed "outsider" like mcCain. You gotta figure Rove et al have that one mapped out. :puke:

21. Yeah, the Dems have an awesome responsibility
but I honestly think the Repukes have done most of their work for them. I also think people are sick of the Rove SmearWorks.

The voters are going to want more than insults and mudslinging the next go round. And that's really all the Neocons ever had to give any campaign.

Yeah, I love that "you just hate Bush" crap.

You know, they always loved and respected Clinton! Rush Limpdick still shows the utmost respect for the Clintons and he must be so disappointed in all of the Americans who continually bash **!!!!!
