So this is a "shake-up" ?
For weeks, it has been rumored that the White House needs a "shake-up". That's what Reagan did. It is the conventional method to getting a rise in the polls. So this morning, Andy Card, Chief of Staff, resigns his positions. Is this the "shake-up"? Is that all there is?

Or is it more difficult to find Bush kiss-asses and suck-buddies? A band-aid is not going to cover this gaping wound known as the Bush White House. There will have to be more if their plan is to actually shake-up and change the poll numbers. Andrew Card is not the magic formula.

As others have suggested, perhaps Mr. Card may have other items on his agenda? Perhaps he has been called with Rove to testify in the Plame investigation? Who knows? However, we would expect more change to come down the pike in the near future.

1. I'm leaning toward: he is charged with something
either in Plame or something which will come out soon. These guys don't dump anyone until they absolutely have to.

4. YEP!! Me too! 1st thing I heard this AM is that Card resigned, the
first thing I read on DU this AM was the expected new indictments from Fitz. NOTHING in this Admin happens by coincidence! It may be a while before we know the connection or the reason, but eventually...we will.

Think about Mueller, Powell, and Bremmer.

6. Me too...
... certainly, for PR value this is useless, 90% of Americans have no idea who Andrew Card is. :)

7. I'd only consider it a "shake up" if people from the outside
were being brought in. So far, there's no public announcements of that.

Card's been replaced by another member of the inner circle. That's not a shake up, it's promotion from within.

8. Potemkin shake-up
It's just the illusion of change - Bolton's from the inside. Nothing's different.

10. There was a post here last week that Fred Thompson had been
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 10:55 AM by KoKo01
approached to come in and help and he turned the position down. Also the media was saying that Bush needed to bring new blood in to get his staff in shape but it was more like bringing in someone who had been a "helper" in the past who could shake things up...not a "transfer" like this.

Someone posted an old Slate article saying Bolten had been a liason with congress to James Baker under Poppy. Bolten also was son of CIA Op...so there's a connection to Poppy...

Interesting. They either couldn't get anyone to fill the position (rats knowing the ship is sinking) and Bolten just did a musical chair rotation or it's Poppy/Baker influence through Bolten. It would be interesting to know if Evil Spawn son got along well with Bolten when he was Andy Card's deputy for two years. Why did Bolten go over to OMB...key spot for him...pushed out?

Whatever...it's the same old same old. His idiot father never could get his act together when he went down in the polls. There's only so much you can do with the Bushies when they screw up. They are a stubborn lot. Easy to run at first but then they get too big for their britches and go out of control.
